Improved D23

D23 too many people seemed excited for the future of Disney parks. But it seems like that excitement has been replaced with more... meh reception. Today I want to fix that and try to create a better and more improved version of this year's D23. I'll be going into a six-part series with each part focusing on each resort, with Shanghai and Hong Kong put together. Part 6 would be a surprise for later, but I want your help with the project. I'd love to hear ideas from people on how to fix certain aspects of Disney's plans for the future. Now, I don't want to go too crazy. Giving each park a multi-billion dollar project seems unlikely, but maybe one or two parks getting that treatment doesn't seem too far out of the question. I am by no means a theme park engineer, nor have ever worked in the theme park industry, I am a person who enjoys going to theme parks and coming up with ride and attraction ideas. So take my ideas and plans with a pinch of salt…

There are some things I want to try and get with this plan...
1. An overall improvement on the D23 plan for the future, fixing the problems and improving on the good.
2. A plan that could match Universal's current expansions.
3. Make Disney a resort for all ages and demographics.
4. Just have fun with it...

Disneyland Resort
I feel like the original Disneyland Park didn't get enough love, especially for its 70th anniversary. Only a Walt Disney show and only one new Smuggler's Run mission, already planned for DHS. So I want to try and give the park some more love in this plan.

California Adventure is kind of a mess right now, it's getting three new major expansions, but nothing feels too "California". Either the park needs to change the name or get rides and attractions either themed around California or Ips that take place in California.

Disneyland

  • I decided to build a new exhibit called The Walt Disney Experience next to the Opera House rather than in it. There's enough land in that little nook of the park, and the park could use some more walk-through attractions. At the end of the attraction would see the Walt Disney animatronic on display.
  • In Frontierland, a new walking trail called the Rainbow Ridge Outdoor Trail would be constructed. Small interactives and animatronics would be featured in this outside attraction, with even a mine section. The attraction would end in a small western town settlement, that acts as a water play area. Being similar to Geyser Gulch at Hong Kong Disneyland.
  • In Galaxy's Edge, a slight re-theme to the land would be in order. I think most people even non-Star Wars fans agree that Galaxy's Edge should be re-themed to the Original Trilogy. This would lead to changes for the walk-around characters, some of the symboling in the land, and an overhaul to Rise of the Resistance. Not the most price-efficient re-theme, but a much desired one from fans of Disney parks. This re-theme would cause the land to close, and for a third ride to be built along with the land. Where the Tie Fighter stage is, a new ride called Secrets of the Jedi would finally bring a Jedi vs. Sith conflict ride that has been much needed. The ride would be a wet-for-dry dark ride like 20,000 Leagues at Disney Seas. The ride would follow Luke venturing down into the depths of a submerged Jedi temple. Halfway through, riders would come across Inquisitors and try to make a daring escape. Now we all agree that just one new mission for Smuggler's Run isn't enough, so let's add at least 4, including the Mandalorian one. These missions could all be differing but only giving us one and making us wait until probably 2030 feels like a cheap-out.
  • The major new update to the park though would be the Tomorrowland Overhaul, Another take at trying to make Tomorrowland new. Now many can agree that Tomorrowland has been dying for an overhaul, and using the huge space taken up by Autopia, we could add even more rides. As you walk in, you'll see the Astro Orbitor stay intact as well as a new People Mover. If we're overhauling the land, might as well capitalize on this opportunity. On the left would be Virus Invasion! a re-theme of Buzz Lightyear, involving a space station taken over by a virus. On the right would be Tron: Game Grid Racers, another re-theme. It would still use the same cabin simulator, but maybe a pre-show could be featured, along with randomized races to make the ride feel fresh. Space Mountain would stay the exact same and the Galactic Grill as well. The old Carousel of Progress theater would be used for The Intergalactic Revue a musical rotating theater show, with alien animatronics. Pizza Planet could stay, as long as they bring back the Beyond Penne Pasta, I don't even like fake meat most of the time, but that's an exception. The Space Ranger Academy would be an interactive experience where you learn how to be a Space Ranger. Ending with a boss fight against Zurg, like the Bowser Jr. boss fight at Super Nintendo World. Now we enter the part that uses the Autotopia space, and we start off with a clone of Space 220, a casual fine dining restaurant brought to the land. Crater Town would be an interactive play zone, where guests can dig up and find rocks. To go with that, a new version of Autopia called Rover Explorer would accompany it. A lot more compact and only 2-track ride, with some more pyhical sets and a full electric vehicle system now. Aquatopia would be brough here from Disney Sea and be a fun and cool flat ride to see inside the park. I was hesitant about adding a second trackless dark ride to the list, but this expansion needed an E-Ticket and it's the only system that I saw fit for the ride. Wall-E's Journey Above the Cosmos. A Trackless E-Ticket dark ride following his journey through the stars, easily becoming probably one of the best rides for my D23 yet.

California Adventure

  • An overhaul of the whole entirety of Hollywoodland would take place. The current land has become more of an IP branding spot, rather than a land celebrating the art of Cinema. Now as we walk down a new street of Hollywood, where the Disney Jr. show was is now Goofy’s Limo Tours. A C-Ticket dark ride similar to scale of Snow White and Mr. Toad. Goofy will take you on a tour of the wacky side of Hollywood, being an improved version of SSL. The animation building would stay, probably due to how Disney wouldn’t want to remove it and it is one of the better parts of the current land. We now turn left and see the Muppet Vision theater, brought back and is a slightly newer version of Muppet Vision 3D with updated effects. Replacing the Mike and Sulley building would be Ducktales: The Hollywood Heist. The building would be expanded upon and have the track gutted. Replaced with a brand new track that’s slightly an EMV. Canonically Scrooge owns a production studios so I guess it would be set there. This would follow Scrooge and the family trying to take back an unreleased new movie tape from Glomgold. The ride would also use the Avengers store building right next to it, and across the pathway would be the Studio Commisary, a quick service. The Hyperion Theater would be replaced with the Chinese Theater, taking up all of the Hyperion’s space and sound stage next to it. Holding a new ride called the Cinematic Catastrophe, the ride’s queue would introduce to you a new and upcoming star Lucy Troffman, and her cat. The ride would have the cat named Warble, would play with a magical projector. Thus sending riders through a journey through the screen and through popular movies. The ride would be trackless and have a set-up similar to Mystic Manor. The ride would be bigger and offer more variety in the vehicles position.
  • Avengers Campus phase 2 would still go into effect, but much differently… The first ride would be called Hero Jetpacks, a jetpack spinner that’s a clone of Shanghai’s Jetpack ride. The ride is a floorless flying spinner, and would be an aerial spinner to DCA. The next ride would be the Stark Flight Labs originally set for the land. My version would rely more on physical sets and probably some screens to give it a more enjoyable experience. Peter’s Pizza would be a quick-service pizzeria and Ben & Jerry’s Avengers Ice Cream would sell Avengers ice cream flavors mentioned in Infinity War. And yes @MickeyMouse10 , the Hulk flavor would be green mint now. Iron Man: Test Facility would be a moving walkway attraction, where guests would be equipped with Metal Blasters, that would allow them to interact with screens and shoot the rouge Iron Legion robots. The final ride would be Avengers: Multiverse Threat!, I planned this ride for some DHS Avengers land plan. In it, Multiverse tears would cause Iron Man to evacuate guests from the Avengers Stronghold. While getting into escape pods, your vehicles accidently goes into one causing a crazy coaster experience like Cosmic Rewind. This is basically the Cosmic Rewind for the Disneyland Resort, but smaller, shorter, and less fast.
  • The last new project for the Disneyland Resort in this D23, the Ariel building and surrounding areas would be incorporated into San Fransokyo. With the new building, this will allow for a new Big Hero 6 attraction. For this ride, I think the new scoop vehicle Disney introduced in the new Peter Pan ride at Fantasy Springs would be perfect. Called Big Hero 6: Nano-Bot Protocol, complete with an SFIT facade to go with the new expansion.

I hope you enjoyed reading this, and taking in all of my yapping non-sense. To me at least I think this is an imrpovment on Disney's D23 announcments for the park. Besides for the Tomorrowland overhaul, everything feels achievable and would be cool to see at Disney parks. I'd love to hear your ideas and thoughts abou this, maybe some critism or maybe some ideas would be greatly appreciated... have a nice day... <:
