If true, it's kind of wild that the best room at Pop on (what I'm assuming is) the highest demand day of the year is only $1 less expensive per night than the least expensive room at the Helios Grand on (what I'm assuming is) the lowest demand day of the year.

if they are going to make it that expensive- they should at least have a better food option than the food court. Maybe they could consider something on the lake opposite the skyliner station? That way it could serve both resorts.

There are so many affordable options across the street at Disneyland - certainly just as nice as Pop Century. Howard Johnson even has retro Tomorrowland rooms!
But you are correct… the on property options at DL are crazy high.

Random day in December -
Art of Animation - $262
Pop Century - $248
All star Movies / Music - $191
All Star Sports - $179
Cheapest moderates are $280 (Coronado and Riverside)
Of note - Dolphin is only $285 and that’s with the daily resort fee. Of course parking is extra if you need it but if you aren’t parking that’s a great deal compared to the moderates.

Disney has their own definition of resort levels that don't necessarily jive with industry standards ---over inflated, over priced

I mean you're looking in December, all the prices are gonna be jacked up. I just picked a random day in September 2025 and it's less than $235. Picked a random day in May and it's $227. Picked a random day in July and it's $236. It stays in it's recent normal range throughout most of the year.
The prices are gonna correspond to what's going on at the time and December is gonna be all the Christmas stuff, so naturally it's going to be pricer than it is at other times of year. The prices raising for the Christmas season isn't really a new phenomenon. That's kinda to be expected.
It's real easy to kick up dust about this when you cherry pick one specific time that is notorious for resort wide increases on everything from rooms to tickets.

I would say all those price points are overpriced for what you get at POP and would not qualify that as a "Value" either by Disney or my own standards
And I say that as someone who stayed at Pop multiple times pre-Skyliner, including after the major room refurb.

Ever since the skyliner was added it was slowly converting to the new "Val/Mod" format.

Disney will use any excuse (skyliner) in order to raise prices by redefining what has not changed
And the beds will still get heads to keep them warm...
