If Orlando experienced a Cat 4 with winds that would be utter destruction. Charley in 2004 had winds go through Orlando and Kissimmee topping 106mph nowhere near Cat 4 and that destroyed a few neighborhoods .

Presumably it would be weaker when it hit Orlando, but the forecast has Milton staying a hurricane across the peninsula.

Interests in the Yucatan peninsula of Mexico, the Florida Peninsula,
the Florida Keys, and the northwestern Bahamas should monitor the
progress of this system.
Hurricane and Storm Surge watches will likely be required for
portions of Florida on Sunday.
DISCUSSION AND OUTLOOK
----------------------
At 400 PM CDT (2100 UTC), the center of Tropical Storm Milton was
located near latitude 22.7 North, longitude 95.5 West. Milton is
moving toward the north-northeast near 3 mph (6 km/h). A slow
east-northeastward motion is expected to begin tonight. A
slightly faster eastward to east-northeastward motion is forecast
by Monday and Tuesday. On the forecast track, the depression is
forecast to remain over the southwestern Gulf of Mexico through
Sunday night, then move across the south-central Gulf of Mexico on
Monday and Tuesday, and approach the west coast of the Florida
Peninsula by midweek.
Maximum sustained winds are near 40 mph (65 km/h) with higher gusts.
Steady to rapid strengthening is forecast during the next few days.
Milton is forecast to become a hurricane Sunday night, and it could
become a major hurricane while it moves across the central and
eastern Gulf of Mexico.
Tropical-storm-force winds extend outward up to 35 miles (55 km)
from the center.
The estimated minimum central pressure is 1006 mb (29.71 inches).

Rainfall: Rainfall amounts of 5 to 8 inches, with localized totals
up to 12 inches, are expected across portions of the Florida
Peninsula and the Keys through Wednesday night. This rainfall will
bring the risk of flash, urban, and areal flooding, along with
minor to moderate river flooding.
The system may also produce rainfall of 2 to 4 inches across
portions of the northern Yucatan Peninsula and western Cuba.

SURF: Swells generated by the system will begin to affect the coast

Latest track has it going right over DHS. Of course, the storm will be huge and its effects felt for hundreds of miles from the eye, so anyone in Florida should be making preparations as the track can and will shift, but just thought I’d share considering this site is about WDW.

Like Charley in 04’ that the weather guys got wrong in predicting Cat 4 hitting Tampa but instead wrecked parts of Kissimmee and Orlando , thousands on the west coast made a beeline to Orlando and Kissimmee and stayed in hotels hence hotels freeing up their inventory in 04’ and now doing it again pre Milton .Blog Mickey is reporting that hotel reservation restrictions are now in place

It also frees up rooms for people who might want to extend their stays and also for the ride-out crew.
Extend stays in hotels not by choice with MCO not if but when it shuts down.

The one thing going for me is that I delayed putting the patio furniture back outside after Helene passed. The same goes for storm prep at work. We were all ready to start putting everything back but decided to hold off to see what was going to happen.

I wonder what Disney does in the unfortunate situation that someone is stuck there because of MCO shutting down but doesn't really have the funds available to pay for an extended stay.

Bad timing. We're feeling the winds already along the coast in LA now. If you're on the west coast of FL or central use these days wisely for prepping.
I’m not sure but what Disney did was nice post 9/11/01. All airports closed and guests in resorts that were stuck could call loved ones anywhere in the world on Mickeys dime.
