Trip Report Merry Birthday To All... And To One, A New Pair Of Crocs??? Dec 23

Day 1… December 9,2023

We were all beyond excited to visit Disney World during Christmas time. We had decided to make it a triple birthday celebration. Hope‘s birthday being December 22, mine December 28 and Ross is January 3. It was the perfect celebration. Although it was strange not to be accompanied by Julia. My sweet gorl had too much school work to do and could not get away to come with us.

I’ll be honest, I took zero notes on this trip. I don’t know what I was thinking… so I’m going directly from memory.

I helped out with Ross the morning we were leaving. We had a late flight out. I was hoping we could make it on an earlier one. We managed to get to the airport and switch to the earlier flight. I was happy because that meant we could head to downtown Disney and have some Blaze Pizza. Oops sorry… Disney Springs.

At the airport, we ended up having a couple of hours before our flight and we were starving, so (after a quick stop at the Lego Store) we stopped and got something to eat at Flavortown - Guy Fieri‘s kitchen and bar. I’ll be honest, the food was really good, but it was so expensive!

We landed around 8 PM and checked into All-Star movies. Hope was extremely excited to stay here! She has very few memories of being here. When I booked, I booked movies because it was the least expensive room. We managed to get upgraded to a preferred room and I asked for the Fantasia section. When we checked in, we were actually in the Dalmatians section, so I asked if they could switch it and yes, they did without any problem! I had a very happy Hope.

We got settled and put our stuff down and then got a bus to Disney Springs and enjoyed our pizza!

After, we got a map to the Christmas tree trail and walked around for a bit.

I realize something right away, it was cold! I had read a lot and watched a lot of YouTube videos about Disney in December, I knew to dress in layers, but when they said it was chili, I had no idea it would be this chilly

We returned to ASMovies and settled in for the night. I unpacked our stuff and we went to bed with our bellies, full and a lot of anticipation for the week ahead.

Yay!! You weren't kidding that you were starting right away!!☺️

The food looks really good!! I was in the Newark airport in July. I hadn't been there since I was a kid. It looked so nice!! I loved the restaurants/bars that were in the center of the walkway areas. Very good use of space IMO. We ate at a place that was called(I think) The Garden State Diner??

I was told we were in the new terminal at Newark... The Garden State Diner sounds familiar... I'll have to keep an eye out for it.

I love your nail art - was it hand done or a decal?

Thank you!! It was hand drawn. I haven't really had my nails done a lot since 2020... so I told the girl I just wanted something "Christmas". I think I was one of her "test" models! lol

One of my children informed me that JetBlue names all their planes. Had to laugh when I saw your plane was named “This Peacock Can Fly”. 😆😆

I had no idea!!! I will have to look for that now!!

Yay! Can’t wait to read all about your trip!

Thank you!! Good to have you here!!

Day 2 - Saturday December 10 2023

We woke up, rested and refreshed.

My sweet princess Hope had outgrown most of her princess dresses and they had accumulated in her closet and I finally and sadly cleared them out. But instead of just throwing them to our normal donation box, I had an idea to pack them with us and offer them up to other little princesses in Disney World, so that’s what I did. I posted on my Pop century Facebook group and hung them outside our door along with an outgrown pair of Crocs.

I am happy to say that they all got new homes. I was pretty impressed that people came and only took one, not hogging them all. A couple of moms even sent pictures of their daughters wearing the dresses. It was pretty cool. And it was a good feeling to spread a little pixie dust around.

It was a beautiful day out as we made our way to the Lobby and the busses.

After our breakfast, we wobbled out and walked around the resort to admire all the gingerbread displays. Now I have to say, Ross was not into the gingerbread of it all. He did not understand why people would want to go around admiring gingerbread houses and gingerbread men and gingerbread characters and gingerbread animals. Hope and I, on the other hand, were very very excited to do so. So Ross lagged behind and was a good sport and allowed us to enjoy without too much grumbling.

When we had our fill of gingerbread, we walked outside and got a bus to animal Kingdom. Truth be told, I tried to avoid this park this trip. Out of all the parks and even DS, AK seemed the least Christmas decorated… But Hope had heard about the Merry menagerie. And there was no talking her out of seeing it. So off we went.
