MK New Beak and Barrel - Pirates of the Caribbean-themed lounge

I do get that, but this replaced Pirates League which was closed and this will definitely have more capacity than that did and like GEO-82 replaced a corporate lounge ... so in both cases even though capacity is low they are additional capacity to the parks. Not like they took some high capacity QS and turned it into a low capacity lounge
Yeah, 100% agree with you. I just feel that at some point, both dining locations and attractions need to be installed that focus on capacity. A few people eaters, though not necessarily exciting or something everybody is going to rave about on their insta, could still have a large and positive influence on the guest experience.

Isn’t Disney spending time and effort to go above and beyond what people are asking for?
I wasn't aware people were asking for a pirate-themed bar, but they did one anyway. As far as Imagineered bars go, for perspective, I flew across the country and paid ~$250 to participate in Trader Sam's Mahaloween 2014 at DLR, so I'm a sucker for a well-done mystical Tiki bar (or pirate lounge) experience. The Beak & Barrel looks well-done and fun inside; the challenge will be finding an open reservation at the 60+10 day point.
Yeah Disney, you should have done a half-assed job because people don't really care that much about the look.

The bar is great. Making the video look like a video game has me scratching my head -- a simple POV walk-through would have been sufficient.
Do you think that Disney might use this footage to woo people to Magic Kingdom, Larry?

What do you think the ROI is with producing such content? 10 new bookings?
I'm sure people will look at this and add the lounge to their itineraries (until they find out they can't get a ressie). ROI measured in new bookings will be impossible to quantify unless they ask or the customer offers that the booking was in direct response to the "Pirate Lounge Game Video."
Jesus it must be terrible to live such a miserable life that when something new and looking this good comes out, this is the response.
...and it must be even more miserable to invoke a major deity when anyone questions whether or not Disney is spending money wisely -- especially around here.
I see we've already reached "Disney shouldn't have made this look so good" level of complaining lmao

Truly impossible to win with some people
The lounge is lovely. It's the Pirate Lounge Game Video that doesn't "look so good" to me. It's cheesier than the French Onion Soup at Le Cellier. If I still had shares of DIS I'd be all kinds of concerned about the extra time and money it took to produce it. But I don't, so I'm just disappointed. A better (cheaper, faster) approach would have been to walk a GoPro 360 through the bar and stop at multiple locations so people could pan and zoom to see the interactive elements.

Am I the only one that thought the comment from Larry was satirical? I honestly took it as a joke that they could have just slapped "Pirate Bar" on it with a few nets on the ceiling and still booked it with ease. There have been quite a few people who are the usual Disney haters come and say it looks like it was well done (me included).
People seem to think I'm dissing the bar -- I'm not. I love the bar (see above comment about Trader Sam's at DLR. I'm a proud owner of a limited edition Mahaloween 2014 Shrunken Zombie head as well as a first-edition Nautilus drink mug).

I'm dissing the Pirate Lounge Game video as a waste of time and energy that could have been better spent getting Figment, the Dreamfinder, and Journey Into Imagination rebuilt using today's technology. Or fixing the Yeti. Or any one of a hundred different projects that would actually improve WDW instead of pounding the drum about an experience that sells itself.

At least in AK the Encanto ride should be a real people eater and the Restaurantasourus space is large - obviously a replacement but should be a draw being new and hopefully with good/better food

If they ever need a bigger dining location in MK they could always just reopen Tomorrowland Terrace

Hey. Remember when the unfinished version of this was called out for being really bad because it was too cartoony?

I doubt that video took much in the way of money or time to produce, relatively speaking. Video editing tools have come a long way and I don’t even know what AI can do on that front.

Regarding the video game theme - I did find that interesting, because what do video games have to do with pirates, right? Like many I enjoy analyzing Disney to try and glean some kind of insight into their thinking and what might be coming next, and I’m wondering if they’re putting the concept of “gamification” out there, trying to build an association between that and the Disney brand. (This is supposed to be foundational to the Abu Dhabi park which makes me lean in that direction - if nothing else it’s probably a concept they’re talking about quite a bit now.)

There's likely a large overlap between "Disney adult" and "gamer"

They probably just thought the concept was appealing

A quick search says Oga's is 246 but that seems like a lot. Nothing on Geo-82.

OC register reported this:

"The posted maximum occupancy for the wretched hive of scum and villainy in new Star Wars land at the Anaheim theme park is 276 people."

That is max capacity, so I assume that includes anyone who could be in the building. No idea what the actual number of covers they have "seats" for is.

I think the game thing was just to promote searching the lounge for all the Easter Eggs and things to see in a fun way

Side note, I was playing the video and my wife commented that the music reminded her of the music from a pirates video game she used to play so nice little touch

I think that is like the fire code for max in the building. I saw other estimates of 100-150 guests at Oga's.... So this is probably similar
