Stormalong Bay and Shipwreck Pool at Disney’s Yacht and Beach Club Resort closing for maintenance in January 2025

Back in November, we booked a stay at YC for June 22-25. We have never stayed there, but we always go to Beaches and Cream. The kids always rave about the pool, so the primary reason for booking there was the pool. We had no idea that the pool might be closed, and it doesn't look like it was scheduled to be closed at time of booking.

I got an email on 4/24 saying the pool will be unavailable for our stay. I'm pretty furious. There's no excuse for a pool to be closed in the summer.

The current refurb was announced in March of last year.

I check in June 28 but have not received anything. Hoping for that that it gets back on track and opens for your trip.

I see. I am trying to determine if DVC Rental Store disclosed this information to me or if they were obligated to.

Your travel dates are after the initial projected timeline originally "through May." The website quietly updated to "through June," and this site is the only place I've seen that. That Other Site has "through May" in its April article about starting to fill with sand, and that was after the official WDW website updated. I'm generally on top of things and didn't know myself until DCBaker have a heads up here. It's completely reasonable to be upset about this.

While I can completely understand your disappointment with the pool being closed, there is a link at the top of both the Disney Yacht Club and Beach Club webpages explaining the ongoing and upcoming refurbishments. As with any largescale construction projects, there is always the possibility of delays. I am sure that nobody wants the pool closed through June including Disney. I never book anything (hotels, car rentals, flights, etc.) through third party booking sites as changes, refunds or addressing any problems can become difficult. I assume that since you appeared to have booked through DVC Rental Store, you will be staying at Beach Club and not Yacht Club since YC is not a DVC resort. Hopefully everything works out and you enjoy your trip. Perhaps the pool will open early, you never know!

Sorry that you're not able to swim at Stormalong Bay during your upcoming stay. There are three other pools there also Tidal, Admiral and Dunes Cove leisure pools as well.

Yes, Beach Club not Yacht.

We are doign a split stay and moving over to the Poly after. I'm usually pretty good at doing homework before booking. I've changed our plans before due to attractions closures or resort construction. I never would have guessed a pool would be closed in late June. Oh well. I guess I'll leave no stone unturned from now on.

The original timeline was for the pool to be open this month but it appears that they ran into delays and/or unexpected issues.
