Further indication that replacing the long-unused birdcage wasn't a terrible idea.

What a shame that someone put a stupidly scaled over sized bar in the middle of the hotel lobby to completely ruining the grandness of the lobby. Some more photos of the holiday decor in the new lobby

I hope they're in the parks. We could be more forgiving on Saturday or Sunday during brunch time. What a shame that someone put a stupidly scaled over sized bar in the middle of the hotel lobby to completely ruining the grandness of the lobby.
Also, it's 10AM why isn't anyone drinking at the bar?
Yeah surprisingly doesn't open until noon. I think money is being left on the table there. $25 mimosas calling. What a shame that someone put a stupidly scaled over sized bar in the middle of the hotel lobby to completely ruining the grandness of the lobby.

I’ve seen it but didn’t know it was from Lillian - definitely fits her style and what a lovely touch of the Disney family! Was scared this was lost, but it reappeared recently. This lace work was a gift from Lillian Disney to the hotel for its opening. It’s been updated in a new frame.View attachment 893626

It definitely sticks out - the birdcage and elevator cage were designed to compliment each other - and did. This really sticks out - design wise. I wish it blended in better.the bar itself really works for me aesthetically.
I think the way it sticks out is what works for me, to be honest. I know it is a very specific reference and a hotel in a different part of the world, but it is does remind me of Raffles as a big luxury hotel in the same general style and from the same time period as Grand Floridian's precisely because the hotel does contrast stained wood with white interiors and I suspect that is how a bar like this would have looked in a hotel from that era.It definitely sticks out - the birdcage and elevator cave were designed to compliment each other - and did. But it is nicely designed - and fits the time and elegance of the grand - I was expecting something like the enchanted rose so I’m pleasantly surprised
I got my head bitten off when I asked this question for the B&B...but...here goes: Does it have a soda gun?
My "guilty pleasure" is soda...and I've always/only liked it best out of the fountain (vs. can or bottle)
I'd settle for having my soda made that way (sans the face part)
I believe so and it desperately needs it. They could use cutricos for breakfast and tea room for dinner while they close the cafe for refurb potentiallyAfter the Team Room is done, is the only thing that hasn't been renovated in the main building Grand Floridan Cafe?
Is the Raffles bar in the middle of the lobby, plopping a mass of stained wood in the middle of a white interior? It doesn’t seem to be. If Disney had converted the Tea Room into a bar with a similar aesthetic, I don’t think anyone would have minded very much.I think the way it sticks out is what works for me, to be honest. Yes and, the elevator as well. The elevator and the bird cage were designed to compliment each other. Now the eye is naturally drawn to one and not the other. If Disney had converted the Tea Room into a bar with a similar aesthetic, I don’t think anyone would have minded very much.
