That would be a start. The first 2-3 songs drew me in, and then... they lost me.

They have surprisingly grown on me. It gets the energy high. But, I do wish they would go with one, not both. Or, make it a bit broader of a medley with other songs.

Having watched it quite a bit now, I actually think the main problems are:
1. Love
2. Narration

The Loss section hits hard, but it's easily one of my favorites. The problem is the love song chosen is actually quite bittersweet. Plus it's almost too long. If it wasn't already used, combining it with See the Light would have been beautiful. With that, I know a surprising number of people love So Close. So, I would actually add something more upbeat about your personal journey or something (ala Go the Distance, Almost There, etc.) to build up, before Loss. And, from a show perspective, it's one of the few actual cut points you could do an add pretty easily (where the base and red fireworks create an intentional break).

I also think a narration with the same story but written by a human vs. ChatGPT would go far...

‘See the Light’ would have been a 1000x better choice for “Love”. “Loss” was such a momentum breaker for me.

If they're going to change songs from 3 sections, I hope it's Love, Loss and Unity. I always skip those parts. Love and Loss really disrupts the rhythm/interrupts the flow.

  • Birth "You'll Be in My Heart"

  • Family "Proud Corazón"

  • Play "You've Got a Friend in Me", "Friend Like Me"

  • Love "Can You Feel the Love Tonight", "So Close"

  • Loss "When She Loved Me", "Remember Me"

  • Unity "Into the Unknown", "I See the Light"

  • Finale: "Beating of our Hearts "Beating of Our Hearts" "EPCOT Anthem"

It's so interesting that so many people feel this way. I don't love the loss section, but it sets up the unity and the powerful call and response with the perimeter shots - the reaching out and finding support around you. I think it's a beautiful and touching moment (even if set to a disney song) that couldn't exist without the loss segment.

I would personally switch out the songs for friends and loss and leave the rest.

I'm genuinely curious what people would use for Loss that would have any impact. Those songs are about as perfect a choice for that section in the Disney library that I can think of. I guess I enjoy that the show goes for it instead of staying surface as a lot of modern Disney does. Give me stakes! And, as others have said, it sets up the rally so very, very well. (And the "echo" of the lights off the pavilions back to the audience is chef's kiss.)

I'm surprised Friends grew on me. I still think it could use work, especially Friend Like Me. But, I actually enjoy its energy now.

I can think of one that can be put in between Loss and Unity which is Hope. Since it's a Frozen II song it would perfectly place itself before the Frozen Echos. The song would be "The Next Right Thing" ❣️🩷💫

If they make any changes, I would like to see Disney move the finale to the Heartbeat of Freedom tag back to World Showcase lagoon so it is more easily viewed from all over World Showcase.

If there were changes, I would push for festival/holiday tags.

POE is a slam dunk waiting to happen. Heartbeat of Freedom goes right in line with the story (or any version of it). You could easily do a creative original one (or, ugh..., Disney medley) for F&W and F&G. A version of the EPCOT Tag for FOTA. They could also be reserved for weekends or certain days to save costs, if needed. You have a relatively easy way to plus the show and adjust those as needed.
