I always assumed it was district lands, either way they should focus less on painting the the light posts and more on having them actually turn on at night. They haven’t been on in months.
It has more to do with interlocal agreements and road designations than jurisdictional boundaries. I’m not sure about cftod specifics, but FDOT could (and should like does) maintain roads withen thier jurisdiction.

Given that RCID is mainly funded by property taxes, if there is an economic downturn, is there a chance they could cancel some of the planned road projects, or would they still proceed as planned? DIS is the main payer in the district and is pretty consistent with payments including during 2007-2009.

I have to wonder how he expects to pay for all those things he wants to do. Like pay his salary and that of the other fine legislators in the area. Extortion maybe? If he's waiting for all the "rich" folks to just keep contributing to their cause at some point in time those rich folks are going to realize that they would have been better off just paying taxes.

Property taxes don't pay his or the Legislatures salaries, general revenue (sales taxes) does.

Property taxes fund local government operations - police, fire, roads, water, waste and the biggest....school.

The Speaker of the Florida House has proposed a reduction of the sales tax rate from 6% to 5.25%. And will abolish the sale tax holidays that we've had at the begging of hurricane season and the school year.

Well, hell it should be interesting to see how that amount can also cover air conditioning, floods, hurricanes and the like.

I'm just glad they decided to chip into the rail study fund. Baby steps, even though we're well past the point where that does anything adequate to address the traffic issues. In my wildest dreams they might be more willing to go against the (Disney) grain and push for greater future transit connectivity and development in/around the District, but I probably have a better chance at winning the Powerball.
