World Drive Phase-III

Yes they have, but it's stopped over the last month or so now. Feels like they are waiting for this additional phase to continue.
They started clearing the trees from around the Grand Cast lot to the Fire Station 3 around a month ago. Still need to grind/cut up trees and remove debris before they can continue with adding dirt and such to surfaces like they did with the section between south end of the Grand Cast lot and Shades golf course.

It appears land clearing has started near Maple Road/Floridian Way as work on Phase-III continues (in the attached photo in the quoted post above, this area is where @danlb_2000 labeled "end project"):

Here's an aerial view of the area from bioreconstruct:

Would have never thought a new hotel between Grand Flo and MK would be possible. Amazing to see the landscape change to allow that. Easy to see it open up (if it's DVC) in 2029 or 2030.

I wonder if they’ll ever add an archway back there. Right now it feels more like a service entrance to property as you drive past all the MK parking and utilities, but more and more this will become an official entrance to property.

I don't have any data on this obviously, but I would wager that far more cast members use the north entrance than guests do. I could see a more modest sign, like the one at the Hotel Plaza Blvd entrance being added, if anything, for the sake of the locals/APs who also use it.

I think that certainly was the case. But as the area to the north and west of WDW continues to grow; and GPS is increasingly guiding guests through this entrance; a rising number of guests are using this entrance.

Please let me know if to move elsewhere, but wondering what people think about such a plan (below):

I've highlighted what I'd consider the biggest pain points traffic-wise for WDW today, summarized below in segments.

Epcot Center Dr Extension to Western Way
With Orlando's mega population boom, Western Way is consistently bottlenecked at Buena Vista Dr. A good chunk of people traveling during rush hour, unfortunately, end up using WDW as a way to avoid I4 & US-192 traffic. An extension of Epcot Center Dr should alleviate some congestion, along with a roundabout (on image).

This project would also alleviate some congestion/issues caused by the MK version of merge hell on World Drive by providing the opportunity to widen the on-ramp from World Dr onto World Center Dr.

Epcot Center Dr. Overpass
For anyone exiting Epcot, the four-lane road quickly turned into 2 is not a fun, nor safe, situation. Ideally, the road would be widened through Buena Vista Dr to provide more time for merging.

Immediately after "merging hell" you hit what I'd argue is the most dangerous section of WDW property... the Epcot Center Dr & Buena Vista Drive junction that then turns into a major decisive point for guests deciding between continuing through Epcot Center and I4. If you are coming from Epcot, and want to go to I4 West, you'd have to cross 2-3 lanes of traffic also figuring out what to do. If you're coming from Buena Vista Dr East (as if coming from Riviera Resort), and want to continue onto Epcot Center Dr and onto State Road 535. you'd have to cross 3 lanes of traffic heading to I4. Not a great scenario here.

An additional overpass that would allow drivers from Epcot Center Dr (from Epcot/MK) to "cross" over Buena Vista traffic and to I4 ramps. Not cheap, but somewhat effective I think.

Additional US-192 Connector (Sherberth Replacement)
Sherberth Rd is no longer the secret access point it once was. An additional (or expansion of existing Sherberth rd) is needed to accommodate the traffic flow the area receives now.

Please note my map is not meant to represent an actual layout, simply as a visual aid. There are constraints like costs and environmental concerns to consider, but this is just a start.

Please let me know what's realistic/doable and any comments you may have regarding WDW traffic.

There’s actually already a plan to improve the intersection of West Buena Vista Drive and Western Way where you have the roundabout. The plan is eventually for a flyover/overpass set up in that area.

Building across Reedy Creek Swamp can be difficult legally: that is conservation land. But I an not a lawyer, and maybe some sort of exception for a bridge can be made.
They were able to build a bridge over Reedy Creek for Osceola Pkwy and recently for Celebration's Island connection. There's also an unnamed dirt road with a bridge that connects World Dr & the Reedy Creek Utility area... so certainly doable.

Hopefully with the I4 widening it will help reduce the amount of traffic cutting through property that’s not doing business on property.

Hasn't worked for the last 20 years so why start now. I'm in SLC and they built 6 -7 lanes in each direction with 3 -4 in the feeders and it is locked each day. They will never build their way out of it just like Bob will never increase capacity enough to relieve crowding in the parks

Even if widening finished work today, it wouldn't meet the demand required for Orlando's sprawl. Problem with Horizon West/Davenport is that there's really only one way in and out of Orlando.

Adding lanes pretty much never decreases congestion
The official term for what you are describing is Induced Demand. (This same thing can me applied to the congestion at the parks as well)

About the only constant situation where road widening reduces traffic is when the lanes added are toll lanes.
