In most of the world i believe they still use cane sugar. You can blame your congressional representative. Sugar tax is classic protectionism.
It’s actually Asa Chandler who we can blame. He thought the idea of bottling Coca-Cola was dumb. Thinking he could make some quick cash he made a deal that looked great for the would-be bottlers thinking they’d quickly be bust. One of the provisions was that The Coca-Cola Company would supply bottlers with sugar at a fixed price. As inflation really started to rise and protections were placed on sugar Coke had to keep going to the bottlers and asking them to agree to a price increase. Tied of this situation the formula in the US was eventually changed to high fructose corn syrup. There was some hope that things would change with The Coca-Cola Company’s acquisition of Coca-Cola Enterprises that brought most bottling in house but it sadly did not happen.

But sugar is insanely cheap.....even with that "deal" its the protectionism tariffs that make sugar cost more than corn syrup. Coupled with incentives actually lowering the cost of the latter. The length at which the government asks tax payers to fund the corn industry over any means neccessary is bewildering.

So you prefer a dance club aesthetic from the 90s?

I perfer something that isn't a hotel lobby....they have sanitized store after store. People visit from all over the world to see things they simply cant anywhere else. You could update the aesthetic without making it so....bland....but its really property wide. Disney springs is probably the best example.
