New Evolv AI security scanners & bag-check procedures implemented at the parks

...because the scanner can make it seem like those objects are in my bag if I hold them all in 1 hand.

Had this happen to me in a way. Was holding out my umbrella, but left my backpack (loungefly so smaller one) on my front from taking stuff out. My arm wasn't/couldn't extend enough that the umbrella ding still put the box on my bag and I had to be searched....

That’s a good point, you could add them to the skyliner stations, boat docks etc. you would just have to staff them with enough security to handle them.

I agree with everyone... security was making the park arrival very Un-magical for me and this sounds like a great solution. The fact that there is signage up, and that everyone walks in together without splitting up parties based on bags / no bags is a cause for a celebration. Where can I buy my cupcake?
What makes me lose the magic is thinking that someone(s) might be bringing in a firearm (this is Florida after all) and is untrained and unable to evaluate a situation might decide that a loaded gun would be the quickest solution to a minor problem and let the testosterone kick in. To me if that one little minor reality check scan lasting less than a minute would ruin the magic then the magic isn't very deep in your system. It's todays world and all of us, through lack of interest have allowed to be that way, so we have to take additional measures just to insure our human population is civil. There were a lot of things about the last century that was not so good, but people at least had common sense and class. That no longer exists with the new/old wild west mentality that is so popular today. This too shall pass, but in the meantime we must take some measures to protect ourselves no matter how out of place it may seem. It really isn't!

I wouldn't let that remote possibility ruin the magic. I'm sure that since WDW opened hundreds of thousands of firearms have gone through the gates and there's never been an incident. A much bigger risk is a road rage shooting on the way to WDW and even that is extremely rare.
The security is mostly pointless as some nut who was intent on doing something would just do it outside the security perimeter. It's not like airport security where some kind of ground attack in the terminal is "better" than a hijacking or other attack in the air.
It's just as bad if there was an incident at the TTC as it would be in the middle of main Street. The security screening at theme parks is more to cover the owners in case something happens. Hence the room check policies implemented after MGM resorts was sued under the ridiculous premise that they should have prevented the Vegas shooting.

They are being stopped for the most part now. At the time they were allowed the population was not quite as insane and paranoid as they are now. Until planes ran into the twin towers no one had ever done that before. Until idiot teens walked into classrooms with an AR15 killing innocent children, it never happened before either. There are so many examples of why it is relevant today when it wasn't needed in the past. There are some out there that don't give a tinkers damn about others because all they want is control by terror, just because they haven't done it before, does not mean they won't and with the current social attitude, this era is when it would be more likely to happen. Any effort is better than none.

When did Disney Springs loose the security check points and scanners? Went to the drone show and security checkpoints were gone.

That’s not cool. Profit is the new 1st Key to the Kingdom ahead of Safety?
While I would usually say it’s a shopping mall and probably doesn’t need the security checks - with the drone show attracting such large crowds it does seem like an odd time to not have the checks.

I do know that once when getting dropped off after closing I had to explain to 2 different security officers I was simply walking back to the Hilton. So even if there isn’t a check point they are around and watching.
