Not really surprising. I’ve been there for Labor Day weekend in the past and it’s one of the least crowded holiday weekends.

Correct. Travel habits have changed! So many folks learned NOT to go on Labor Day weekend, its no longer crowded.
Same has happened other previously crowded times of the year; folks learned NOT to go during these time and now they are no longer crowded.

Labor Day was never crowded. It’s the last weekend before school starts for half the country, and the third weekend after school starts for the other half. Parents with school-aged children aren’t going that weekend.
