That’s not what it is. In fact in most cases a single rider line does not require a single extra cast member.Single rider lines require extra staffing and Disney doesn’t see the value in paying for it. That’s all it is.
It is peculiar that WDW doesn’t use SRLs as often as Disneyland, though. Soarin is the most striking. That’s not what it is. In fact in most cases a single rider line does not require a single extra cast member.
There are more efficient ways to fill all seats than having single rider lines. They truly should be a last resort. Single rider lines cause issues at WDW that are less prevalent at Disneyland. It is peculiar that WDW doesn’t use SRLs as often as Disneyland, though. Soarin is the most striking.
Why create a capacity bottleneck if it can be avoided? That’s just totally against the lean principals. There are more efficient ways to fill all seats than having single rider lines. They truly should be a last resort. Single rider lines cause issues at WDW that are less prevalent at Disneyland.
There is no capacity bottleneck. Capacity can be maximized in more efficient ways than having a single rider line. A single rider line is simply the easy way out.Why create a capacity bottleneck if it can be avoided? That’s just totally against the lean principals.
Many times Disney does choose to have an extra CM with a single rider line, or to put it more accurately, can’t short-staff as heavily because of the single rider line. I would agree it’s not necessary when the CMs and the guests are fairly competent but that’s not always the case. Add in maintenance and it certainly costs a bit more. That’s not what it is. I never said that single rider lines do not maximize capacity. But there are better more efficient ways to maximize capacity that make attractions more efficient for everyone. Single rider lines should only be used by ride operators as a last resort. Many times Disney does choose to have an extra CM with a single rider line, or to put it more accurately, can’t short-staff as heavily because of the single rider line. You haven’t even gotten to what you’re arguing. If you’re arguing that the inefficiency is caused by guests who enter a single rider line and expect to ride with their party, well the fact that said guests are even given the time of day is the issue.
If single rider lines are operated as intended, they absolutely maximize efficiency, filling every single seat every single time. Otherwise you have a grouping process, which is where the extra CM goes, or you have frequent empty seats. How about you let us know, what do you think is better than a single rider line?

All attractions already have a grouping process and do not require additional staffing to group a single rider line. Some attractions utilize a designated single rider greeter but most do not.
And yes, For a variety of reasons there are guest issues with single rider lines. Due to guest demographic and Disneys culture these issues make the lines problematic. But that’s really only a secondary reason for why they are not used.

I would suggest an age restriction on SRLs. Perhaps 14+ so people aren’t aghast when a 5-year old is separated from his family.DLR has more solo guests (by far) than WDW.

What is the restriction? There is already an age restriction on single rider where they are used
SevenWhat is the restriction?
That’s the restriction to ride anything alone. I think it should be higher for SRL.Seven

Because people are in an uproar when they realize they won’t be with their first-graders. That would be less likely if they had to be 14. 7 is rather young to be in charge of your own actions without supervision. Why? Odds are they are riding with an adult in their party directly before them (and if a party of 3+ an adult directly after them) so in the event of an evac they will be reunited quickly.
FP for Galaxy’s Edge is complicated but very long wait times and high demand were exepected to begin the launch of a new on demand pay FP option. With the long waits not happening, plans have/may be adjusted. Stay tuned.
but short answer, no word yet.
But that’s really only a secondary reason for why they are not used.
I’ve already stated. Single rider lines are not the most efficient way to fill seats.Again, you haven’t gotten to what you’re arguing. What is this primary reason?
