Disney got blasted for taking stock video of a contentious region of China and had the end credits of Mulan acknowledge thanks to that region's filming board for the permission to do so. Something that's done as a matter of fact for any movie. But, it was a delicate issue, and also a wedge to use against Disney by the haters.
So... does anyone think that Disney can film a new China film that won't cause controversy? You show the contentious areas... you get blasted. You don't show the contentious areas... you get blasted.
