It's a whole-world-except-the-US thing.
Last time I checked only Latin America had a ton of sport though (since unlike the rest of the world, pre-merger Star was a separate premium subscription due to a boatload of ESPN content which continued on when they merged, like all 4 major US sports leagues for example). Wasn't aware other countries had more than a handful of things.

Disney adding another babysitting show is good, I see it leading to more subs, more ad dollars (even though ads aren't turned on for "Junior" profiles), and hopefully more continual watched minutes.

There were rumors percolating when Stags and Meyer came back as consultants for Iger that they may be looking to sell Candle Media (they own Moonbug who produces CoComelon) to Disney, wonder if this is the first stage in that process.

Disney to finalize the acquisition of Hulu no later than July 24, 2025. Final payment to NBCU in the amount of $438.7M.

During the initial phase of the appraisal process, Disney’s appraiser arrived at a valuation below the guaranteed floor value, while NBCU’s appraiser arrived at a valuation substantially in excess of the guaranteed floor value. The final equity fair value, which was completed on June 9, 2025, takes into account the valuation of a third appraiser, which if it had been equal to or below the guaranteed floor value would have resulted in no additional amount payable to NBCU and if it had been consistent with the NBCU’s appraiser’s valuation would have resulted in an additional amount of approximately $5 billion payable to NBCU as its share of the difference between the equity fair value and the guaranteed floor value.

Pursuant to the contractual appraisal process that was completed on June 9, 2025, an additional $438.7 million is payable by Disney to NBCU to purchase NBCU’s interest in Hulu.

This amount will be recorded in “Net income attributable to noncontrolling interests” and thus reduce “Net income attributable to Disney” in our Condensed Consolidated Statements of Income for our fiscal third quarter. This amount is also expected to be excluded when Disney reports Adjusted EPS, the non-GAAP measure representing diluted earnings per share excluding certain items, and therefore is not expected to impact Disney’s previous guidance on fiscal 2025 Adjusted EPS.

The acquisition of NBCU’s interest in Hulu will close on or before July 24, 2025.

So much for this being a huge payoff for Comcast after the fact. This is a big win for Disney in my opinion.

I think Comcast wasn’t consistently paying their share of Hulu so their ownership share was less than 33% by the time the valuation and payment came into play. So Hulu got valued at around $30B by a third party appraiser which is closer to where Disney had it valued (below $27B) than Comcast having it at over $45B

Not only not paying their fair share, but pulling NBC content off of Hulu, effectively devaluing it.

Hope all the utilization of that reclaimed content was worth $5B to them.

So, in the end, instead of paying Comcast an extra seven to ten billion, Disney paid then an extra third of a billion dollars.

Personally I think Roberts had just hoped he could get a higher valuation so he could use the proceeds to pay down more of Comcast's debt, as they swimming in it.
