Can you remember... Zip Code Man

Hi all,
My mother and father have recently been reminiscing about a so-called 'Zip Code Man' at Disney World. The visit in question was back in 1996 and you could give this cast member the beginning of your zip/post code from all across the world and he could tell you the location.

Can anyone confirm whether or not this is the case? I was too young to remember and doubted them immediately being the pessimistic person I am 😄

Would love to know more details if it's true!

Sounds like something that was at communicore. Forgot the actual name of the attraction, but there was a whole section dedicated to travel.

Was this a cast member who could do it from their head, or was it some sort of installed exhibit?

I can't tell you I have ever heard of it, but it is not that hard to believe there was a CM who could do so.

First of, ZIP codes are a US thing, not a worldwide thing, and teh first three digits represent maybe 25-30 delivery zones in the US. It is no harder than memorizing the 50 States and their capitals. Especially if the CM was a former US Postal Service employee who worked in national mail routing.

His name is David Rosdeitcher and he currently resides in Boulder, Colorado. He spent about six months as a performer at Epcot in 1996. His act is you tell him your zip code and he can tell you what city you are from with just the zip code number.

You have made my mother’s day with this knowledge! Quite some memory too if he only performed for 6 months over 20 years ago!! She seems to remember him wearing a funky suit with a bowler hat or similar.

I’m sure there are so many short-term performers at WDW who have stuck in people’s memories.

Thanks for taking the time to reply 😁

You are welcome. Oh, and it is not wise to doubt mom and dad, especially mom!

Way late to reply but I worked at Disney the summer of 1996. I stumped the zipcode man with my 74363 zip code for Quapaw, Oklahoma. He was real and amazing. He had a chain map of the US and rolled it out for people to stand onto their spot of the country and then told a story and would include his reveal of knowing everyone's town. He was able to get to Miami, Oklahoma, which is about 5 miles from Quapaw. He pulled me aside after and asked my exact town name and told me if I see him again, he will know Quapaw. Unfortunately I haven't seen him again to test him.
