News Disney Lakeshore Lodge (Project 89 - Development near Fort Wilderness)

I will start by stating I don't have special affinity for fort wilderness. Any review of the placement of this resort would conclude that Disney management could care less about Fort wilderness. It is so intrusive to the feel and theme of Pioneer hall . and the rest of Fort wilderness. Disney management had to know this and didn't care. They have fallen so far from the 80's when Card Walker and Marty Sklar were running the show. How can they not understand their own business. I still have great trip when I go but they could do sooo much better.

East side - cash. West side - DVC.

And it’s 9 stories. That’s not changing.
The whole thing 9 stories? It looks like part of it has already capped out but wasn’t sure if certain areas would be shorter. Also are the sight lines from the settlement area any concern to anyone of importance? I’m curious to see how they keep the two resorts separated. Did notice a new access gate is being put in at the settlement bus stop to keep people from cutting through.

A little more context for location:

They're also working on infrastructure to to east of A frames closest to FW, even more behind Pioneer Hall and on old Clementine Beach. It's right there near an old pier. Theres still beach (and a beach VB net on the east side of the FW pier and rec building).

And here a view from Tri-Circle-D Ranch:

I also don't really understand the site line issues. There might be a few camp sites and two cabins that can see it from the 100 loop but like you said it's predominantly viewed from Settlement area and otherwise not seen from the rest of FW.

But the location is closer than I imagined. There are A frames right behind Pioneer Hall and even more is being down closer to the FW pier. I don't think there is much to need to separate. Parking lot is easily gated and pool can have scanners if needing. But really I think the resorts can be symbiotic with FW picking up easy access to new table and quick service options and Lakeshore having options to go to Pioneer Hall for Hoop dee Doo and Crocket's, and the rec options at FW via the Settlement bus stop or a three resort shuttle bus FW-Lakeshore-WL.

I am sure they completely intended to share restaurants, but probably not the amenities... You can eat here and buy stuff but you are not welcome in our nicer pools.
It is a shame they made no effort whatsoever to create a coherent theme between the two properties... I guess one is mid century modern Marriott Goes on Vacation in a National Park next door to a low rent campground...if that is a theme..... Unless they intend to completely refurb and rebuild Fort Wilderness to make it a really really nice resort with a train for transportation and a Steamboat that circles Discovery Island...Yes I know it has no means of steering...lol It would be nice if bringing that sort of saturation to the area might get them thinking about Discovery Island again...though doubtful in this day and age.....

based on that picture, they should block the view in about 2055... Sadly there is no way to block the view of the huge buildings... They have forever impacted the Wilderness feel of Fort Wilderness.
From ground level with existing trees in the areas of the cabins and campsites, this will be blocked well.

A 9 story behemoth is in no way harmonious with a campground.

agree just look at the horrible Contemporary rooms, yet the first floor lobby is really nice,,,no correlation in that project whatsoever. I guess the concourse level will never see an update either, but the rooms being the worst. Incredibles daycare, that should not be for what they are charging.
The first floor lobby has hard plastic couches with pillows that are chained to them. It doesn't really scream "deluxe" either.

FW has treehouses, too? I thought only SSR did?
Well, "treehouses" is a bit of a subjective term with this project, it's how they are labeled on the plans but they are not true "treehouses" like SSR's are. LL has 4 of them. I think. Can't remember if it's 3 and 1 ADA-accessible or 4 and 1.

So it looks like potentially A-frame "cabins" that will be called treehouses?
