Does anyone have photos of the view from the Fort Wilderness beach, looking out at either Discovery Island or the Contemporary?

I'm using the SFWMD plans to render what the new cabin structures might look like. Having realistic background photos would be helpful.

Not from FW but from a pontoon boat if that helps. These are from July 22.

Personally I think it's a missed opportunity. A large area of land that doesn't bring in the sort of high earning clientele that Disney world is looking for. A great expansion area for a new park with attached high end hotels.
Have you ever camped there?? Buying and maintaining an RV is not cheap. In my experience the majority of those who camp at the Fort are higher income families that have plenty of disposable income. The holiday decorations, the exceptional quality of Halloween candies given away and scavenger hunts are just the tip of the iceberg. I bought 2 direct DVC contracts last year for a total 375 points and the cost pales in comparison to what my RV cost, plus the gas, tow vehicle purchased to haul the RV and the cost of renting a site. DVC is an absolute bargain compared to that!

I knew RVs wouldn’t be cheap but you just spent $75k plus maybe $3k a year in maintenance fees. If that is “an absolute bargain”, I hate to think what an RV costs. 😱

It obviously depends on the model/features/sleeping capacity, but for a new 2025 model year RV that can sleep at least 5 people, you are looking at a minimum of $100k.

RVs are expensive to maintain and if you live in a big city, like I do, you also have to pay for storage. On top of that RVs depreciate whereas DVC usually appreciates or holds its value. That’s why I said DVC was a deal when you add it all up. However, camping at Fort Wilderness is so unique and fun that there’s nothing like it and it’s worth every penny you spend to enjoy the experience. Both DVC and camping are wonderful and hopefully people will learn to appreciate and respect both without being too judgmental. For those that are not in the camping community, an RV park and a trailer park are totally different things and I wanted to point that out because some posts infer that they are the same thing and they are not.

RVs depreciate less than a car
