Sorry for the duplicate thread (I also posted this in News), but since our prior discussion was in this one, I wanted you to know that thanks to your advice about checking back daily, I found today that more rooms were released for the free dining promotion. (No availability yesterday, but this morning - it looked like there were rooms available at every participating resort for my dates.)

Got my family booked, although we had to upgrade to parkhoppers and a preferred room, but we're still saving about $600. I had to book a new reservation to do it, though, because I couldn't get ahold of our TA -- now I have to try and work out with my TA (who, despite many hours of valiant effort, wasn't able to get through in time to get us free dining on Monday when it was initially released) how to merge my new reservation with our old reservation, or (awkward) ask her to cancel the old one if she can't upgrade it to what I booked this morning. I hope I haven't committed a TA faux pas by making an entirely new booking by myself, but I couldn't bear to let the chance go. (UPDATE: I'm glad I pounced on it when I could. Two hours later, I checked and whatever additional rooms had been released were gone! I keep looking at my printed confirmation just to prove to myself that it's really true!)

I'm not sure, Darth Fiscus. The dates for which I was checking were the third week of November, but it looked like there was something available at all of the participating hotels, at least for those dates. It's certainly possible that they didn't release new rooms for the whole period.

I just noticed that this morning on line Pop is showing availability for your dates again!

Thank you !!! Just talked to the hubs and he wants to stay at Sports and save the $$. Then I talked to our TA and she said our total would only go up by about 90 bucks. Hubs response, let's talk about it tonight when I get home from work.... I have a feeling the rooms will be gone by then but I guess we'll see!

I was very upset I wasn't able to get pop century but on the day they released more rooms I was able to switch to pop centry! I noticed Art of Animation was available as well. I prefer pop to all stars by a mile. If feels much newer. Also, they must have released more dining reservations because I was literally able to book every ADR I wanted. I got Sci Fi, Cinderella's Royal Table and Be our Guest for dinner.

Really wish the week of the 19th in October wasn't blacked out...I really wanted to go for my birthday and trying to find a logical reason to go. That would've been a game changer :(

Somewhat related, does anyone know why All Star Movies is excluded from a lot of offers? I feel like whenever there is an offer, free dining, room only, etc, that one seems to be excluded. Why is it more popular than Music or Sports?

Same here! We always go in September for our anniversary, but I'd love to be there on my actual birthday for once.
Ha that's awesome...It's tough for me because I work 2 jobs from march-mid december and taking any days off to actually go somewhere is nearly impossible. I've only been to Disney in January-March going on my birthday would be a dream come true lol

Just out of curiosity I checked free dining availability online and there are now rooms open at Pop, Caribbean Beach and Coronodo Springs that were not showing available earlier in the week.
Same! We moved from Caribbean to all star music to get free dining. Tonight I just moved us back to Caribbean and still with free dining. So much more excited. Only cost an extra $400 for 9 nights since we were paying to upgrade to DDP from QSDP. This is a once in a life time trip for us (coming from NZ) so I'm excited about being able to stay somewhere a little nicer.

I have a reservation at Caribbean Beach and yesterday I was just checking the website and found out if I moved my dates a little I could get free dining, so that is what I did! I am so excited to be able to take advantage of free dining! It pays to keep checking and to play with your dates if that is possible. Can't wait!!

I'd say that the theme makes it more popular, and that is why it tends to be excluded. Promotions are used to fill rooms at resorts over certain dates, if a resort is already at a high enough capacity, they don't need to include it in the offer.

What you can do sine you booked a reservation and you already have a reservation with your TA is to ask your TA to cancel the reservation and transfer the new reservation over to your TA. That way it will keep all the parties happy.

Disney offers the discounts to the resorts that it needs to fill. ASMovies is the more popular of the 3 due to it's theming so they do not have the need to discount the rooms or offer free dining.
