Changes to PhotoPass at the Innoventions Disney Visa meet and greet

Forgot to report this from last week, but when we went to this last Sunday, 12/06/15, we were given a small paper while in line waiting with instructions on how to download them if you didn't have memory maker. So they've been doing it at least a week now. Forgive me, I wasn't able to do trip reporting while there with a one year old like I had planned lol.

This policy was in effect when we were there on 12/1/15. It's a little disappointing. Even through we always had Memory Maker, we liked getting the actual print from each trip.

I'm not happy about this change. I actually felt the photo voucher was one of the nicer benefits of the Visa card. Sure, the M&G's which typically had shorter lines was nice, but nothing that special; the real benefit IMHO was getting a free photo for each day you visited. We would actually make it a point to hope to Epcot a few times to get a few vouchers each trip and use that to get some free souvenirs. I also liked that the photos could have the "special" stuff on their like a WDW logo with the year or a "1st visit" kinda stuff. We have a couple of nice photos on our walls due to that.
As mentioned, if you get Memory Maker, this provides no real benefit. Would be nice if they at least had rare/special characters then (how about having Pete or Clarabelle in Epcot or Darth Maul or Boba Fett in DHS?) as a perk of the Visa M&G.
Does anyone know if this change is applying to Disneyland as well? We are going there next year and I was hoping to really rack up vouchers between hoppers and the two parks.

Yep. Was excited as we waited in line at the Launch Bay until we got the paper. No more prints

Need to pay for the second meet and greet somehow. Cutting out the physical prints probablly pays for Chewie to pose in DHS. Can't have it all.

every year we go to Epcot, get a picture done and have a wall full of these pictures. At first I was a sadden to hear this But I am okay with the digital pics the more I think about it as that way I get several pics from the thing and I can print it up whenever /how many I want. If something happens years down the road , I still have the digital versions where I can print them up again.

I just did the Disneyland Visa greet last week and we received a free print. Don't want to spoil anything so I'll just say the character meet and greet was awesome.

Kinda bummed about not getting the print, we looked forward to it and while -- in the grand scheme of things-- was a cheap benefit, it was 1 less things we had to do/pay for when we got home.
On the other hand at least, I don't have to worry about stopping at the camera shop at the end of the day and wasting that time when we were ready to leave.
However, I doubt Dis is taking into account the money they will lose from my kids wanting me to buy every little thing in that store as my wife spends the time to compare and customize that photo. lol

We loved getting a real photo (voucher) from the VISA meet and greet, now that it's a download it's just one less thing we'll want to do. This is so stupid. How many things will they take away before people say enough is enough? I mean how much does it cost to print a photo, $.25? They can't even spend $.25 on their guests to print a photo?

I guess I'm in the minority here. We go to the meet and greet for the kids to get that experience not for the free picture. You stand in line for 15 minutes and get to see two characters for an extended semi-private meet and greet experience. Did you know that the characters are limited to 55 seconds or less per family in most high volume meet and greet locations? That's not the case in Visa. Also just FYI, Visa is paying for the operation of this location so this would be a decision by them not Disney.
I think this is the first time I've heard people complain about getting more free stuff than they got in the past. I think it's nice to be able to get all the pictures but the pictures we take with our camera typically turn out better anyway and we put them on a digital photo frame. Maybe we'll benefit from an even shorter line though!

It's not extended, they rush you in and out very quickly, so fast that they have already stacked the next family up in front of you as you get your picture taken. It is definitely not an experience where you can spend any more time with a character than at any other greeting. You're also not getting "more free stuff" you're getting less "stuff". The "stuff" also isn't "free", you can't access it without a credit card that charges interest.
Why is it that members with low post counts come out of the wood work here when people post something that isn't Disney positive?

I'm actually very critical of Disney but this wasn't a decision made by Disney, it was Visa.
I don't carry a balance on my Disney visa so it is free. We've never been rushed through the visa experience and we go for just that the experience. You get out of it what you put into, do you interact with the characters at all or just pose for your picture? I'm sorry you're disappointed about the change, I just don't see what the fuss is about. I'm not looking for an argument just providing a different perspective.

Every decision made concerning the parks and properties falls on Disney's management's shoulders, guest experience is their responsibility regardless of who is paying for a particular experience. It's still not free, it just "seems free" because you don't carry a balance. You're also promoting Disney every time you take the card out of your wallet. We've been rushed through several times this year, that's not a problem, just a fact. It's disappointing because instead of having a Disney print that you go home with, you now have to pay to have it printed yourself. There is calculable value lost with this change.

I agree that the Visa M&G is more relaxed and less rushed than the other ones on property and that's certainly a perk. But I don't see how one could not view this as a reduction in benefits. Previously, you got a physical photo for free; now you don't. The digital download is fine, but is superfluous if you already get Memory Maker and if you want to get a picture now, you have to pay for it.
