EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

If there was ever an attraction that either needs an upgrade or a full out replacement it is the Nemo ride in the Living Seas Pavilion. I have never liked this ride, and it is telling that the queue is a mile long but it is constantly a walk on.
And the only interesting part of the ride with the Angler fish was broken when I took my niece and nephews on it last month! They were legitimately bored during the rest of the ride.

Trying to shoehorn a ride in there was a terrible idea from the start. Yes, there was always an omnimover there, but it really was not a standalone attraction -- it was just one part of the whole pavilion experience as an underwater base. It wasn't intended as something people would line up to ride separately.

If they wanted a ride in the pavilion, they should have built something new beside/behind it.

If they could do away with the screwy book report Nemo ride and restore the Seacabs’ aquarium visibility, it would do a lot for the pavilion. Have Nemo narration for the tank views, fine, but enough with the dark ride that didn’t have to be.

I think the dark ride is fine and adds more than it replaces for the average guest.

Nemo isn't a glaring hole in EPCOT and with a bit more polish for writing, can fit even tighter with the themes The Seas wants to convey about conservation and the relationship man has with the ocean.

I think The Land gets touched up sooner than The Seas anyways.

best part of the ride too! i dont think nemo is bad and with a bit of love could be better. there's other parts of epcot that desperately need love so...
Agreed. EPCOT needs lots of work in some of places RN, and while I would never complain about MORE EPCOT, The Living Seas Pavillion to me seems pretty far down the totem pole right now.

I do like that it has gone back to the original color scheme in recent years however. While I don’t mind it the ocean blue look, compared to how it looks now it is no contest. Now all we need is that classic loop back outside…

I largely agree, but I would argue that The Seas as a whole is in far worse shape than The Land.

The small cosmetic touches have been great. I just think they need to seal the deal and really give it the EPCOT 3.0 treatment that Test Track did. Nemo is easily in the bottom tier of attractions at WDW.

(Weren't there very real plans to bring back the hydrolators?)

The Land has 3 VERY solid attractions. It really needs an aesthetic overhaul to feel complete.

Another voice for aesthetics, here!

The Land’s design does not fit its aspirational theme / meaning, and is neither visually nor emotionally compelling. It does not feel like it’s in a theme park at all.

I understand it trying to jive with Soarin’, but there should at least be some middle ground.

Unfortunately, it’s hard for me to imagine they’d make major (i.e., expensive) aesthetic changes without a “sellable” attraction update or replacement a la Animation Courtyard, and I’m not aware of any evidence for that being in the works (but who knows).

As for The Seas, it’s a really good sign to see the aesthetics being worked on—and done pretty well! Somebody understands the value of visual cohesion with the surrounding areas. I hope (though not betting on it) that larger improvements are afoot involving the mural (as others have mentioned), signage, etc.

By the way, Imagination should totally be part of World Nature. Can’t we say the human animal—and thus our imaginations—is part of nature (in contrast with things we create using that imagination, e.g., science, technology, and culture)? That would at least solve the layout issue. But I guess it’s too counterintuitive / a stretch? Either way, I hope Imagination is at least next in line for reversion to the original color scene, which would alone go a long way.

One area that could definitely be refurbed is the inside of the Land Pavilion. The entire thing, from Sunshine Seasons to the balloons up above should be redone.

Easy; the new Disney way is just to put another bar in there. Corporate could justify a refurb of the pavilion for only the price of badly mixed cocktails.

To be fair the queue is actually better than the attraction.

Maybe more people would visit the aquarium if they replaced the Nemo ride with one that is actually good.

But far be it for me as a Disney shill who always defends Disney to portray the Nemo ride (and the Figment ride) as awful.
Supposedly some of the budget that was allegedly for Imagination version 4 was instead allocated to turn the Living Seas into Finding Nemo back in 2006.

regarding the Nemo ride - ideally Disney would use IP to “host” Epcot pavilions rather than try to make Epcot a MK style experience.

Nemo and friends hosting an educational introduction and tour of the living seas would be great.

And Remy hosting a tour of France.

Etc.
Yeah, This was why I have always had a problem with how they handled the Seas re-do. I don't mind a few Finding Nemo elements to augment the educational angle. The problem was Nemo seemed to be the emphasis of the pavilion not "The Seas". I never had any objection to Circle of Life in the Land pavilion but if the entire Land pavilion became themed to Lion King I would object which is basically what happened when Nemo moved into The Seas. Though I do find it interesting and unusual that Circle of Life was literally replaced by a non-IP Attraction.
