EPCOT Big changes coming to EPCOT's Future World?

I think close on zero chance of a fountain. None of the infrastructure is there to do that. My money would be on just ripping up the floor and redoing it with a different product. The planter would stay as is.
I bet they rip up the pavement, eliminate the in ground lights and just (try) to replace the faulty pavement.
An awful, awful, failure if a project.

For now, I am calling the destruction of the fountain of Nations to be replaced by this ugly planter with broken ground lighting and broken pavement, "WDW's Rocket Rods"

If the Cars thing in MK fails the way I think it will, the title of "WDW's Rocket Rods" may go to the Cars attraction.

Lets see what happens...

I need some cheering up, I gotta watch some EPIC Universe videos ;)

We may have reached a new low with so many trip hazard ropes now in place. They are all over the place. Not only is the in-ground plastic distorting and curling upwards, but now the concrete is breaking up around the plastic. I didnt think that was likely when all this happened, but I really think we are getting to the point of closing off the entire area, ripping it up, and starting over.

The other day I observed a PhotoPass coordinator and manager trying to determine which areas were the biggest trip hazards, and moving them around accordingly, because they ran out of stanchions.

I wish I was kidding.

The next step is to start moving around trash cans to cover them up. I saw them do that in Dinoland once. Except there it was funny because it looked like a trashcan sitting in the middle of the road. Here it's just sad.

I don't think they will, but they really need to. Just put up the walls, rip it up, and do something better (preferably with a fountain instead of the bland planter).

I think it's more likely they just rip out the lighting and replace with concrete than blow up the whole area, though.
Unfortunately, I think you are correct.

Is the area that replaced Fountain of Nations basically where the three rusty trees are?
No.

The FoN was South of the middle of the hub next to the old Starbucks.

Right in the pinch-point of the Communicore buildings arching into each other. Dumb.

FoN, or any fountain, should be right in the middle of the hub where the current festival planter is.

I normally would agree. But, I actually think a smaller fountain south of the center would work better in the current design. This design, whether we like it or not, is about having lots of little things to draw attention. The central part absolutely needs something. It currently is like a pedestal in a museum with an insane lighting package and nothing on it. But, I think they are stuck with the pedestal they have. So, some type of central sculpture/icon would be best.

A smaller, kinetic/jumping fountain in the very badly planned planter south of the main area would actually be my vote. That planter is POINTLESS as is. It needs some type of draw. (Though, again, I usually would agree with you 100%.)

The other option would be a waterfall wall or something else backing up to JOW, but that's a whole other conversation...

That's not what they're doing.

The poles and straps are to keep people from tripping on it.

But black poles and straps are another issue for parts of the light show when all the lights are off...
I agree in part and disagree in part.

I agree that they are there to stop people from tripping but looking at the photos one pole always seems to be placed on top of the white plastic which is bending upwards - one photo it seems like that is causing a pole to even tilt.

Lastly, totally agree about the color of this dumb set up when the lights are off. This is all so pathetic

I would rather see them completely block off that center area, demo and completely reimagine it... The "gardens" area is not that interesting...or really even interesting at all... That space needs a grander vision.... We are not getting the Table building, we instead got the Flex Space...so knowing that is here to stay, they could at least admit it is not an engaging entrance area, Leave a lot of the planters and crap they put in, but carefully demo that heart of the plaza and do something grander... Re-use the light towers in the new design, but put something epic and beautiful there...It currently just feels like a sad failure...and fixing the pavement lights and the trip hazards are still going to leave it the sad failure that it is... The park deserved better.

I really hate that rust all over the place!

Someone actually made that design decision and thought that was a good idea?
It all seemed very trendy, with no eye towards how things would age... The Communicore East building was made more timeless by stripping away alot and opening the buildings back up to their original form... they could have done a lot more with the interior designs to make them look less like a current-day, anywhere USA shopping mall or airport concourse...something more visually exciting, but they at least function... This central park core is just a letdown on so many levels... The shade is nice from the trees...but as a "Garden" it is underwhelming, as the central core of a World Class theme park it is also underwhelming... It lacks everything expected from the world leader in creative entertainment...

IMO, a fountain isn’t right for that space anyway. If scaled appropriately for the area as it now exists, it would essentially be repetition of the fountain at the park entrance. Ideally, the cascading gardens down from the Walt statue should’ve incorporated water features, but ironically, as currently designed, the part of World Celebration that could most use water is where the Fountain of Nations once stood. I think the central planter could maybe be salvageable with some permanent COR-TEN abstract sculptures or something. I dunno.

I agree. A fountain would not be a good fit. If they can attempt to keep the lighting and music - water gurgling would not blend well with that.
