DHS Toy Story Land expansion announced for Disney's Hollywood Studios

The area really would have benefited from a critter carousel or some kind of flat ride. I like TSL but there really is a lot of wasted/poorly designed space. I hate how you can’t stop and enjoy the scenery because wherever you are, you are on a walking path and in someone’s way. Like there is no where to just pull off to the side.

I would love to see someone take what is there and show us how much room there could be if it was better arranged.
I think its really just the coaster layout... its HUGE for the amount of ride it is... It eats up ~185,000sqft (if you include what it blocks off from expansion)

For Reference Big thunder takes up ~105,000sqft.

Everest takes up ~165,000sqft

Here is Everest (correct scale, but no shed) plopped in Toy story land instead of slinky I also had to push bad Alien... Slinky is great... but its no Everest

Disagree. Slinky is…just okay.

It’s essentially just an elevated Dragon Wagon.

Great might have been an overstatement... slinky is a good ride, but the amount of land it takes up is just not worth the ride quality. If Slinky was as extravagant as Everest or big thunder... I don't think people would view TSL as such a poor use of space... what they should have done was make the coaster loop in on itself a lot more to open up more land for an additional 2 flat rides.

Here is "Jet Rescue" from Sea World Australia in TSL which has a longer track length than SDD, includes 2 launches, and is about as family friendly.

TSL should have been the area packed with kid rides with TSMM as the central attraction. Do what Purduevian suggested and add 2 flat rides, then I think TSL serves a very good purpose at DHS by just adding a lot of capacity. Only having 3 attractions in that amount of space is such a shame. Even the theme of Andy's Backyard just works as a flat-ride city.

Heck, just throwing in Parachute Drop and a spinner would be fine.

I think a way to meet the characters without waiting in a line in direct sunlight for an hour would be make it sooo much better. Indoor M&G with LL option. Especially seeing slinky is much less toddler friendly than it looks.

The frustrating thing is... there was room for that with super minimal compromise. SDD could have been just a long/thrilling in a foot print 1/2 to 2/3 as big. Now to add flat rides they either need to squeeze one in at the stroller parking or eat into a Star Wars expansion plot. They could also take down the cast member parking garage.

but honestly...will SWGE ever really expand? and if it does, wouldn't they probably expand in other areas away from TSL?

I always wondered if the land was designed by someone who has never been to Florida? How do you have an entire land with nothing indoors except the existing Toy Story Mania, with the heat and rain.

Even without indoor areas, the lack of shade and cooling features really hurt “Andy’s Backyard”.

The concept was done SO much better with Honey I Shrunk The Kids Movie Set Adventure. Shady blades of grass, the squiring garden hose.

And didnt the Super Soaker (behind the grass in this pic, to the left of the Play Doh) emit a fine mist?

God this would be such a no brainer to add to TSL. You could even have a few sections that you can wander into as play areas like this. Like literally copy/paste into TSL. No notes
