Just trying to see what every one would do in this situation. I will List the good and the bad. Traveling is my Dh, DD(3), and DS(10 months) and my Parents. Last year we shared a room at CBR and we are doing the same this year. We were considering getting our own room next year. Here is the Good in Sharing a room
- Cheaper my mom spends 1,000 more so we pay 2,000 with tickets and free dining for 2 weeks. IF we do our own room we would get a quick serve, book at a value and stay for 11 days and end up spending 200.00 more
-They drive, so we go to the parks early and leave with them so no hassle for the bus, not saying they wouldn't drive us next time depending on where they would be staying
THE BAD
- My mom and Dad are LATE sleepers so when we are getting up with our DD and nexy yr DS we feel like we have to tip toe and get out as fast as possible which puts a lot of stress on us.
-No privacy

I just don't know what to do , if it was you WWYD??

You need your own space with your parents sleeping in late. Would a family suite or cabin work for sharing? We did a cabin with my in laws and it worked great for us.

No. Just no. I would not share a room with my parents. DH would probably leave me if I even brought it up. Can you look at multi room set up? We looked at a treehouse villa when thinking of going with my parents/sister
And never ever with DH's. Ever.

I voted no but with a caveat. My parents are no longer with us(passed away 25 and 24yrs ago when I was 21 and 22) and with THEM, I would have shared a room gladly because my parents were a ton of fun! However, with my husband's parents(mind you, they passed 14 and 4yrs ago in their 90's and 80's), they were not even fun when he was younger, his mom was the Travel Agent for Guilt trips(not speaking ill of the dead, she knew this and used it LOL) and his dad was a WWII vet who never liked anyone(not even his own family). As for my older son who is 26? When he was 18, he had his own room that he paid for and it was connected to ours at DLR but we are all on such different schedules that it is just not a good thing and we also really like our own space. We can send the teenager into the park, have room service for breakfast, shower on our schedule, yeah, I like my own room and sharing a room with anyone else is just a happy killer to me.

Thank you for the tips! Does any one know can you get suites at Moderates? Or only Deluxe? I am a Stay at home Mom and don't think I could afford a deluxe. Thanks all!!

I voted get your own room. It is a privacy issue for both sides, in my opinion. PLUS, if we as the grandparents plan the trip we may want it as a relaxing time, not as a built in babysitter, not that you would do that. I love my S-I-L, but do not want to sleep in the same room as him! Adjoining rooms are great at a value. One door can be locked or they both can be open, whatever you like. Even staying at the same resort without adjoining rooms would be fine.

If you want cheapest suite, I think art of animation. If I had to share a suite I might as well be in a regular room, unless the parents are mad or grouchy about being up early (which would then prompt me to get seperate rooms next trip). 2 single rooms at a value may be cheaper than the cheapest suite.

Well, I've done it with my mother. First time, sis was with us, so we got a suite at AoA as that's two rooms (my mom does have a tendency to snore; it doesn't usually bother me, but DS on the other hand...). The next year, it was just me and mom so we did one room at AS Music.

I will share a room; I will not share a bed. I will sleep on the floor before I share a bed (unless I'm with a significant other which, admittedly, doesn't seem like a foreseeable scenario for quite some time). On family trips when I was younger, I had to share a bed with my brother, and he was a severe bed wetter. As an adult, I demand my own bed. I think I deserve it for all those times I woke up in damp sheets assuming he hadn't kicked those off the bed.

Book your own room. Everyone will be more comfortable and you can feel freer to do what you want.;);) Everybody needs their own space & privacy especially when you are on vacation. It gives you room to rest and relax at your own pace. No worries about waking them up or disturbing them because you are on different time clocks.

You can get a family suite at All Star Music. What Disney did is cut an opening between two rooms, giving you a bedroom, living room (with sleeper sofa) two bathrooms (and closets) and a nice kitchenette. However, that sleeper sofa is not the most comfortable. I don't know how these compare to the suites at AoA, price wise. The cabins at Fort Wilderness have better sleeping arrangements (the Murphy bed in the living room is comfortable) and a full kitchen, but only one bathroom and the only closet is in the bedroom. Which is where the hair dryer is. The bed in the bedroom seemed a little small for a queen and the bunk beds are definitely kid sized.

There is a family style room at Wilderness Lodge - it's concierge level, so it's pricey. But it has a bedroom and the bathroom is the jack and Jill style (entrance from both living room area and bedroom) and looks roomy. And the sleeper sofa more comfortable than any you would find in a Value. Plus it has a kitchenette, but I don't think that includes a microwave.

Depending on your budget, would a 2 bedroom villa be feasible? Saratoga Springs is lovely. The two bedroom would give you and your parents privacy, two bathrooms, kitchen, washer & dryer, and all come with a pack 'n' play. All would be nice for a trip if that length.

I have personally rented through the dvc rental store. You can fill out their availibility request form for a no strings attached quote. My agent was Lindsay and she was very nice and quick to respond to all my questions and concerns. She always emailed me back either the same day or first thing the next morning. I was skeptical at first of renting but it worked just like a regular check in and I had full use of my magic plus just as if I booked directly with Disney. We stayed at animal kingdom lodge in a studio for cheaper then a standard room at at a moderate.
