9 Nights /10 Days, how much spending money?

We just booked a trip (with Kingdom Konsultant – highly recommend :) ) for Jan/Feb of this coming year. We are staying 9 nights with 10 full days at the Polynesian– arriving first flight on a Thursday and leaving the following Saturday on the last flight out.

Not including hotel, passes and airfare, what do you think we will need money wise for two adults and a 4 year old per day? I have been before many times but we usually stay at a moderate so we would have some cheaper meals with the food court. I just want to plan correctly.

Thanks.

Hmmm...we averaged about $50 per day on souvenirs, snacks, and other unforseen expenses, not sure what your budget is for that.

For food, I'd estimate about $100 a day if you eat breakfast in your room. That would give you about $35 for a counter service lunch and $65 for a sit down dinner somewhere.

So my estimation is $150 per day, so $1500!

Only difference is if you want room service breakfasts (about $5 more per person.)

Otherwise you can hit the counter service breakfasts at the poly.

While on the subject of breakfast, we found great counter service breakfasts in the parks.
Epcot: Main restaurant behind SE (ate here to settle stomach after MS ;-)
Studios: ABC Commissary (Great breakfast, hardly any people there)
AK: Tusker House (probably the best sausage gravy biscuit I’ve ever had)
MK: NONE! (there are no counter service breakfasts in MK, only character breakfasts and a muffin cart or two, so don’t even think about it.)

Have fun, order room service, it is such a time saver in the mornings to have breakfast in your room.

We (my husband, daughter & me) always budgeted about $150/day for everything. We didn't always by souveniers everyday and stayed under budget, but other days, we went over because my daughter is SO very spoiled and got just about everything she asked for. (HEy....what are vacations for, right?) To account for normal price increases, I'd say budget $200/day to be on the safe side, and if you have some left, then all the better! $200 is what we are budgeting for our next trip.

Isn't Cosmic Ray's Counter Service for breakfast now?

My boyfriend and I spend $100 a day. We try to eat cheap and then we spend money on T-shirts... or we go out for a nice dinner... it always works out in the end to about $100 if we are on a budget... if not, that is a WHOLE different story!

Don't ask me. I've spent $3,000 in 6 days on food and souveniers. When it comes to my Disney vacations (at least 1-2 per year), there is no budget. I like the expensive stuff in the Gallery at the MarketPlace. (I have a lot of their stuff in my house) When it comes to meals, I get anything at anytime. If my son is thirsty, we get water or soda. If he doesn't finish it, oh well. Same with snacks. If we want something, we get it.

The character meals are pricey and usually not worth the money (in food), but in memories it's priceless. I know my kids don't eat their $20.00 of a buffet, but they love it so it's worth every penny.

Only 85 more days 'til I'm home :sohappy: :sohappy: :sohappy:

We budget about $150 per day. Most of our meals are counter service with a few nice dinners. I actually prefer the counter service restaurants while in the parks, because you usually spend less time and it's back to the park!

My family always eats a large buffet style breakfast(usually character) then we are full until dinner. That way we only pay for two meals a day. We prefer this to three counter service meals a day and it usually ends up about the same in price. The breakfast buffets are usually about $18 per adult and $10 per child,so that's about $60(with tip) , then table service dinner is around $70 for two adults and child. Add in $15 for drinks and snacks plus souvineers $20 a day and you have about $165 a day but I would round up to $200 just to be safe.

Man oh man I want to know all of your secrets.... I just dropped about 550 in 2 days... Then again the liquor bill of 125 at Jelly Rolls for 4 people may have put me over the edge a little..

We went last December for 11 full days and for 2 adults (no munchkins yet!) we spent a little less than $600. We ate at Ohana for dinner and had 1 character breakfast at Crystal Palace (both recommended) and ate 3 meals a day plus snacks but we don't really buy alot of souveniers. I just bought the Illuminations CD, a freezer mug, mickey roni and cheese (RECOMMEND), Pooh Pasta and a back scratcher :) Boyfriend bought a freezer mug. So depends really on what you think is important. For more fun dinners and breakfasts you might want to bring $1000 to be on the safe side :)

Plan on a good $100 a day for food for your family. I usually plan on $150 a day for food for a family of 4. I like to over estimate so I don't run into $$ shortages. As far as Souveniers go, I think you will be safe taking another $750 just in case. You also have to factor in snacks, ride photos, dinner show $$, dinner show photos, and some emergency funds in case of a sickness.

If you take $2,500 with you on your trip, you should bring $$ home with you. I always take extra for the unexpected. I like to be prepared.
