Seriously...a friggin food truck? People wonder why there are D&Gers! If this isn't the Walmarting of WDW I don't know what is. Its one thing to put them at DTD....I get that...but at WS? A supposedly world class resort? Is it April 1st or something....am I dreaming? No I am not being overly sensitive....it just blows my mind. A friggin food truck! at WS! Just when I didn't think that they couldn't surprise me anymore then this. A food truck!......Is this theming? Are they parking it in front of the American pavilion? Where will this bastion of superior cuisine be located?

A friggin food truck in WS......sheeesh I heard everything now. being over dramatic? You bet I am! A food truck in WS......I just cant get it out of my head. Someone pinch me! Someone tell me that Walt would go with the times and would park one of these somewhere in one of his parks......go ahead....anyone?

I was there yesterday. Walked by the truck 3-4 times, and not a single sale occurred while I was around. My son wanted the sliders though! He ended up getting fish and chips in England.

18.25 for a Lobster Roll?? Well hot damn skippy, count me all in! Disney always does offer the best food for the right prices. o_O
Here's a picture of the Lobster foodtruck! World Showcase after the 'food offering expansions at the request of guests':

Keep reporting it again, mate.

That's exactly wat this nice family website needs. A brave soul such as yourself spending his Saturday night shielding the members from wit and humour. Without your useful intervention there is no way the members would know that the pic isn't from the food truck that will appear in WS for the first time next week.

Take it someplace else, mate. Go out and pick fights elsewhere. Leave this thread and website alone.
I didn't report anything...I saw the original post and refreshed and it was gone.

Maybe you should be a little less defensive...mate. Or maybe try and be more amusing in your attempts at humor. Either one.

Why did you post that (fake) picture again after it had been deleted once? That image isn't from Disney World or even from that side of the country.

And I say....what difference does it make? Are you implying that you can put lipstick on a pig? Make it All so magical? No matter how anyone slices it or dices it.....its bad. Plain and simple. No way to sugar coat this one. No way to spin it. Nope. Its a FOOD TRUCK!.......In WS!

I am sure there will be those who can accept it and still have a very magical day. An effing food truck in WS! Anybody want to defend this? Anybody? Tell me how it isn't really that bad....that I am just spewing hyperbole.

Isn't the genius of food trucks that they can move around as needed? And isn't this why the 4 trucks were each themed to different parks? I don't understand the issue here, this isn't permanent, it's being placed in a park during a busy weekend to relief some pressure and hopefully keep guests slightly happier. Maybe the location isn't fantastic, although I'd like to see pics before I pass judgment on what its "blocking".

Exactly. If they are used temporarily to meet guest demands at peak season I see no harm.

Otherwise you could end up with a situation that the MK has where so many locations are shuttered most if not all the time.

BTW, Wonder what is going on with the 'Veranda' location lately?

This is an American phenomenon? Certainly in the rapid growth and popularity. The reality is street stalls are a way of life in the rest of the world.

It wasn't blocking anything. If you look at the map on MDE, it is right at the beginning of the WS, coming away from the ball down the center pathway. It is on the right side before you get to the Pineapple Promenade. If it is blocking anything, it might be infringing on seeing the flower displays across the pond by Capt EO- but that's stretching it.

At your service! Aye, poor WS. Disney doesn't understand EPCOT. First FW was destroyed, and now poor WS. It is being turned into WDW's Pleasure Island/CityWalk zone.

By adding and adding restaurants, and by making the consumption of truckloads of food compulsory with the dining plan, WS has changed in nature. It's largely not being thought of anymore as a theme park. It is now a themed CityWalk.

I can understand the reasoning of Ops to drive in a foodtruck for this crowded weekend. Why, I could understand them turning the Flower and Garden into a foodfest, I can understand them paving over WS with huge restaurants everywhere. There is a huge demand for food offerings at WS. But, that demand is there because people are funneled into WS for that. WS itself is infinitely attractive - who can resist all that lakeside beauty, who wouldn't want to take a stroll there tasting the best foods the world has to offer - and meanwhile there is nothing comparable elsewhere at WDW. Apparantly those much derided a-cultured guests do see the difference between a Downtown Disney Westside - insultingly crap - and a lush, sophisticated themed environment such as WS.

WS is not coming out better for it. Disney took paradise and cannibalised it. It is busy turning WS into Downtown Westside Story II. We now have big waterfront restaurants build in front of the pavilions, with temporary food stalls in front of those, with food trucks in front of those. Each new layer less themed, and more in your face. It is the pain of WS having been build so superhumanly gorgeous - you can diminish it by half and still it is a magnet.
Wonderful wonderful post!

All that was once special about World Showcase is now being downconverted to a mall and food court.

As themed environments get better in our local malls, the specialness of a trip to WDW goes away.

It's not very different from what is happening to Las Vegas now that casinos are popping up across the country.

Next step? You won't be able to see the lagoon without a reservation.

Eventually? Pave over the lagoon so that the food trucks have more room.

Joni Mitchell said it all in 1970 in Big Yellow Taxi:

They paved paradise to put up a parking lot.
