Removal of Main Street Christmas Wreaths Due to New Parade

Another dumb question but from what I remeber from the past few years they don't normally add Christmas decorations to the resorts until after thanksgiving right?
Actually they are normally up by Thanksgiving week. The Wilderness Lodge for all the years I've been going there, has always had the tree up by Thanksgiving. They put up less decorations at the resorts then they did say 10 years ago so it gets done pretty quick nowadays.

Last year we were in the area for only a day (November 20th). The tree and decorations were up at WL, Boardwalk, and Beach Club. The gingerbread house was ready at the GF, but the tree wasn't up yet. Most stuff was going up that week (some had only been put up the night before).

I was at the GF for a week departing Nov 21 a couple of years ago, and I have a vivid memory of walking into the lobby on the 19th or so, as I would do every morning, and it hadn't been there the night before, but there was just about the biggest Christmas tree I could ever recall seeing. So yeah, a week or so before Thanksgiving begins the overnight installations.

I will admit the new wreaths appear to frame the castle very nicely when looking down Main Street. But I'm with you on the trees and greenery being needed. Hopefully the new hub addresses this (and brings back the twinkle lights as well).

I remember the trees and the twinkle lights at the hub from when I was kid. I always thought it was kind of cool as it looked like fireflies.

I was sad to see them take them out but, in reality, it make a lot of sense in terms of seeing the shows and fireworks.

When watching the video from the 90's that was posted the first thing I thought was it was hard to get a good view of the castle with the big trees. I will say- I love the smaller trees with twinkle lights that show at DL...if they were that small at WDW it would add a small but lovely touch :)

They had the twinkly lights at the MK in August, the trees were small without any leaves.

I don't know if it's still the plan (or if it was ever a plan for sure) but Articos said a while back the new hub project would have twinkling trees again when it's finished. The CGI render showed that there are supposed to be more new trees planted as a part of the project (at least it looks like it), but we'll have to wait and see what it looks like at night and whether they add any lights.
