we have a 8:05 at the crystal palace. What time should we be out by? If the park opens at 9 I wonder if will be out before the rest of the public comes in. ( this is not on a extra magic hour morning)
I know the open the park a little early usually. Like 8:50?

You'll want to check shortly before you go to make sure that there are no EMH and no "Fantasyland Early Morning Magic" hours scheduled for that morning, both of which will put a bit of a dent in your timing advantage. Either way, yes, you can expect the park to open to the rest of the public around 8:50am, give or take a couple of minutes.

Whether you are out of CP before the rope drop crowd starts to descend upon Main Street depends on: (1) how speedily you and your party are seated and can get through a buffet line and eat (candidly, my family of fast eaters would have no trouble getting it done inside of 45 minutes, even if we had to spend 15 of those minutes waiting to be seated -- I've seen other families, however, who seem to take 45 minutes just to nitpick their way through the buffet line! Somehow I always end up in line just behind those folks... :banghead:); and (2) how quickly the characters make their way to you - their rotation can take 40-60+ minutes, so you'll want to assess whether you don't mind missing one or more of them if it's taking too long for them to reach your table.

In short, it's certainly do-able, but you may have to rush through your meal a bit -- and be sure to ask for your check the first time your server comes by. In our experience, 'waiting for the check" can add 10 minutes or more to Disney TS dining experiences if you don't ask for it up front, and when you're anxious to leave, those minutes can seem like an eternity.

As someone else said...unless you're one of the first tables that the characters visit, it could take upwards of an hour or longer. Crystal Palace is not an experience to rush through though...enjoy the all you can eat buffet and characters. If you're looking to just get into the park early and eat quickly, check out BoG and see if they have any early openings.

Love a little Disney every day!! ;)
Unless you are one of the first tables to be visited by Winnie and Friends, it's been our experience you will not be out in less than an hour. Others may have a different experience.

Agree our experience as well. Character meals take us at least 1 hour or usually 1.5 hours to enjoy our meal and meet all the characters without feeling rushed. I don't pay good money for a meal/experience to rush through it. Haha! :p

I always allow myself 90 minutes for a character meal, because I never know where my table will be in the rotation. Usually it is closer to right at an hour, but I've had a few that took longer. Crystal Palace was one of the longer experiences (although it was a very late breakfast...it may go more quickly early morning).

Either I'm a turbo eater or just lucky. Even with my team of 36 we were in and out in around 45 min and an hour at the absolute max. This was with pictures as well.

I'd plan over an hour. When I was at Tusker House last year they must've just been at the table we were seated at because it took a long time for them to circle back to us. 1.5 hours is not out of the realm of possibility at all.
