A little over seven years ago at the beginning of Sixth Grade I became best friends with the second biggest dork on the planet. We clicked right away and have been inseparable ever since! I'm not entirely sure why, but for the last 7+ years she's stuck with me, through every gross phase, obsession, and the horrible fate of ending up at different high schools. We might not see each other every day anymore, but the last four years haven't changed anything. We're still closer than sisters, she's still my very best friend, and luckily, we'll both be attending the University of Mary Washington in the Fall so we'll be together again! (Pre-Trip Report will continue after a brief glow up montage)
(I know we look gross. We were in middle school, give us a break.)
(This picture is actually only a couple years old)
(This is the most recent picture of us. It's from my birthday. See what I meant? Glow up!)
ANYWAY! While we were in Sixth Grade we were talking one day about our mutual love for Disney, and we (sort of jokingly at the time) thought it would be such a cool idea if for our high school graduation we went to Disney World to celebrate, no parents, no boyfriends, no other friends, just the two of us besties celebrating the end of our childhood somewhere where we could be little kids! Over the years, and countless Disney movie nights, the idea was bounced around a lot, though I don't think either of us were really convinced that it was ever going to actually happen.
Flash forward to our Senior Year of High School, or rather, the weekend before it started. At a sleepover/movie night we were talking about how this was going to be our last year of school and reminiscing over middle school, when she brought up how we always used to talk about how we were going to go to Disney for graduation, and how maybe the idea deserved a little attention. So, just for the heck of it, we decided to price the entire trip out and things kind of worked out in our favor because it wasn't as unreasonable as expected. We booked the trip.
We pooled what money we had left over from holidays, Summer jobs, etc for the deposit and sat down and figured out exactly how much we each owed for the rest of the trip. When we told our parents they thought we were joking at first, I mean, they had known we'd been talking about it for years, but they never thought we were serious. However, after explaining to them that we were very serious, and that it shouldn't really matter to them anyway since we'd both be adults and they didn't have to contribute to the trip at all, they were on board with the idea.
To finance the trip, we both got jobs. Well, we had been applying for jobs anyway since before the trip was planned, because, you know, college is a thing that costs money. But we both eventually finally got hired at crappy jobs we hated, her at McDonald's, and me at the movie theater. We hated our jobs so much for a large number of reasons, but we suffered through them, and eventually we saved up enough money to pay off the trip and quit! (Just to have to find other jobs for college expenses but you know...)
So now that you're all caught up on the backstory, let's delve into the plans!!!!!!
