7 Dwarf Mine Train – Spring 2013?

I first joined this site a little over a year ago and have been reading post religiously since then (probably too much). In the beginning I swear a saw a lot of posts that the general consensus was the Mine Train would open in the Spring of 2013. This goes along with the Disney Press Releases that have stated the majority of attractions with open in 2012 with one opening in Spring of 2013. As time has progressed I have seen posts saying the Mine Ride will open in late 2013 and then it progressed to Spring 2014. And recently there was an article on Disney Insider that quoted Staggs as saying one final element would open in Spring of 2014. No mention as to what, could be the Mine Train, could be a Princess meet and greet could be something not previously mentioned. And now recently I saw a post from a guest that says Spring of 2013, a lot of people questioned that post.

In anything I’ve read Disney has not come out and stated any timeframe specifically for the Mine Train just that everything should be open by Spring of 2013 until Staggs stated one attraction would not open until Spring of 2014. Does anyone have any creditable article from Disney that states any timeframe for the Mine Train specifically that says Spring of 2014? Or, is there anyone that can share they have a creditable source and they have stated 2014? Don’t have to reveal the source. I’m really wandering how this date has seemed to change and is now a full year off.

Here is a post from Lee, one of the local reliable insiders, that states that internally Disney is using a date of fiscal Q2 2014 (which is Jan-Mar 2014) for completion:

wdw71fan was the source of the rumor that the Mine Train would open in Spring 2013. He/she has not commented in the other thread when I asked where that info came from. I find it incredibly unlikely. At the very least, I'd expect that they would want to spread it out a bit to try to continue the attendance increases for the FLE.

Lee says Q2 2014 and he is always right on the money. Given the progress to date, I'd hope it may be a bit earlier though – like Q3 or Q4 2013. Given how long it's taking for them to finish LM and BATB, Spring 2013 doesn't seem possible.

In the end, these dates are calculated by budgets and construction timelines, so even if they're progressing much quicker now than planned, they may not have things budgeted or scheduled to be completed before 2014.

Thanks Lee, I’ve seen a lot of your posts and trust you as a creditable source. So I looked at a lot of the posts from wdw71fan and I don’t see any posts that are not creditable either. Hmm... do I believe what’s more realistic (Lee) or what I want to believe (wdw71fan) since I have a large family reunion planned for summer of 2013 with my Nephew who has Cerebral Palsy and who I know would love this ride and most likely never return. I guess in the end, if it’s done, It’s done, If it’s not, what can I do?

That timeline is from last year, and is of course subject to change. Bumping it up by a year seems a bit unlikely, though.

Lee, if you don't mind. How does Disney's fiscal year align with the calendar year. I'm in the military and we count years beginning on 1 October. Many companies fiscal year aligns directly with the calendar year. Thanks!

Disney used October 1st.

As for who to believe, you don't have to look at it that way. Information is only good until they decide to change it, which happens often.

At this point I believe Lee because he has been able to offer a source for this date and as you say, it seems more realistic. Of course all of these dates need to be taken with a grain of salt so you really want to be careful planning your vacations around attractions that are still in the works.

So potential soft opening Christmas 2013 opening before spring break 2014. Most likely February or March 2014. With a past career in the construction industry, that looks plausible. Thanks for the info, Lee.
