My girlfriend and I decided to spend a day at Disney. Because her dad works for Reedy Creek, we knew we could get into any of the parks for free. We really wanted to go to Magic Kingdom, but while walking to the boat towards the Contemporary, we found out that MK is blocked out to ALL cast members until August.
We, then, get on the Epcot monorail after the boat ride and monorail to the TTC and make our way there for the day. I realized that we forgot a camera and had to purchase one for $20. We get into the park no problem, and we start to have fun. Plus her dad gave us stickers that we wore and gave the rest to little kids who always want to have fun.
Test Track is a must for me every time I go to Epcot, so to beat the later crowds, we went on that first. Only had to wait 20 minutes (this at 9:30 am) and we only knew it would be worse. After Test Track, we made our way to the West Side of Epcot to grab a FP for Soarin', which always has a crazy wait time in the afternoon, and after went on The Seas with Nemo. Of course, we took a picture in front of the big display with Marlin, Nemo, and Dory. Plus, we had to do one in front of the sea gulls. There was no wait either. That is always good.
We still had time left until the FP time as we made our way to the Imagination Pavillion to ride Figment. Again, that did not have a wait time either. It is her favorite ride, and we always get on that ride. Still more time left as we went on Spaceship Earth. 20 minutes posted wait time, but it was more like 10. And of course, the train stopped moving twice during the ride. I was still happy when lunch came around to go to the Electric Umbrella.
Soarin' even with a FP had about a 10 minute wait and still had fun. I love that ride just because of the smells. It smells purrty in there. We started to make our way towards World Showcase, but had to grab a FP to ride Test Track one more time during the day.
Starting the countries one by one. Went to Mexico and rode the Gran Fiesta Tour then Norway to ride the Maelstrom. Both those rides had no wait. Of course, after riding Norway, they show that movie. I have seen it too many times as she said as well. We passed through, and made our way towards the gift shop there. In the gift shop, there was a huge line of people to see Sig Hansen and two other people from the show Deadliest Catch on Discovery Channel.
After going through some countries, we went back into Future World to go on Ellen's Energy Adventure. Before the ride, we caught a little bit of the show by the JAMMitors. By the way, I love the ride with Ellen and all, but don't you think it needs an update? Anyways, I am side tracking here. About 4 minutes into the movie, a lady gets up on the microphone to say that the ride has technical difficulties and will be shut down for an hour.
After the Ellen mess, we wanted to act like Disney dorks we are and goof around in Mousegear and try on a bunch of the hats and take pictures. I put the "Stitch eating your head" hat and the Jack Sparrow hat. My girlfriend put the Cinderella princess hat on. The funniest one was to freak her parents and mine out by taking a picture of the married Mickey Mouse ears hats.
Still waiting til 5:30 to go back on Test Track, we go to the American Adventure thinking by the time we get out of that show, we can ride TT again. On our way there, we see rain clouds and start to ponder if it would rain. Once we get out, the typical summer day in Florida. IT POURED DOWN RAIN!!!!
From then til about 7:40, my girlfriend and I did what ever we could to pass the time. We went on Gran Fiesta Tour, Maelstrom, and Ellen again. Fortunately, Ellen was working this time, but something always happens. One man gets up before the ride starts, and they ask him to get back in. He says his phone call is more important and leaves whoever he was with to use his phone.
Around 7:40, we hear cars zipping around TT meaning they were testing everything out before opening it up again at 8. The FP line was just as long as the standby, and it worked perfectly. We only waited 5 minutes because they did not do the normal preshow.
Once done with that, Illuminations was going to start in 45 minutes. We head over to Mexico to get something to eat at the Cantina. Got a great spot on the water, and I forgot to get something for my little brother. Then, once I bought everything, I forgot that the stores stay open. I felt so bad to give up the great spot we had. View that we ended up getting was great.
Then to get back to MK, we waited 15 minutes for the monorail, and then rode another monorail to MK to get the boat straight to the campground. It took the boat 20 minutes to get there. The only good thing of that was we got to see Wishes from there. Finally, we got back to the car at 10:55!!! It took us an hour and a half.
Overall, it was a great day spent at Epcot.
