Week 2 brings me to 1962:

I nixed the above and went with:
In Search Of The Castaways
It is a very strange movie. it starts out with a brother and sister and a French man trying to sneak on the ship to convince the owner to help them find the brother and sister's father who was lost at sea. Then the movie dies,after the setup. Even the rescue at the end falls flat and it last maybe 5 minutes. The really bad special effects are almost distracting. I wonder if kids found the movie boring in 1962.
The highlights were Maurice Chevalier as Jacques Paganel. he was almost funny how optimistic he was. Hayley Mills was wonderful in this. I do not understand why her legacy is not as big as say Shirley Temple or Judy Garland.
I say legacy because I know she was a star in the 60's, however I think her movies career does not get respect because they were Disney family fims.
Well anyway back to the movie itself..I would give it 2 of 5 stars. Just 2 stars because it just does not hold up well. Not less because it has moments and 2 good performances, but that is all.
Next week comes 1963. Will have to squeeze this in..due to the fact that I am heading to Disney World for a long 4 day weekend! Hey maybe I will also review my trip using the 5 star method next week along with the movie.
