Welcome to the 1970!
For week 10 I turned down:
The Boatniks
The Wild Country
King Of The Grizzlies
Smoke

I wanted to go animation this week, I went with The Aristocats!
I am sure Disney followers know the story, but I will give a quick recap.
Madame Adelaide Bonfamille leaves her fortune to Duchess and her kittens the butler plots to steal the money and kidnaps the heirs, leaving them out on a country road. Where we are introduced to Thomas O'Malley who offers to help the lost cats.

I liked the movie a lot, not sure if I loved it. I thought the animation in 101 Dalmations was a little bit better (maybe the snow helped that). In fact the story seems like a mix of 101 Dalmations and Lady And The Tramp, maybe that is what makes it not great for me, I have seen it before. However the story had some exciting moments. Some characters that were funny (loved the dogs Napoleon and Lafayette).
The movie did a wonderful job of casting, highlighted by Eva Gabor as The Duchess and Phil Harris as Thomas O'Malley. I was partial to Liz English as Marie, every line she had was great, a wonderful character.
The movie is filled with a nice jazz score, which almost makes the movie quirky.

Some fun and not so fun facts:
This is the last animated feature ok'd by Walt Disney
This was originally suppose to be a two part TV special on Disneys Wonderful World of Color.
Thurf Ravenscroft, The Russian Cat, did the voice in several Disneyland attractions, The Tiki Room; The Haunted mansion; and Pirates.
This movie is based on a true story, of a Parisian family of cats who in 1910inherited a fortune.

Well anyway, I would give The Aristocats 4 of 5 Mickeys. I think is is a good family night movie, I think 8 and under (there is a drunk character if that bothers you, be aware).
Last notes: the special features in the special edition had a lost song "Song She Never Felt" that was cut out of the movie.
Also, WARNING! It has been 3 days since I watched this movie and the song Everybody Wants To be A Cat, is still stuck in my head.
If you like the movie it is coming out on Blu-Ray in August.
1971 is coming up.
