Pre-Trip 50th Birthday Bash

Hello everyone! I've been debating about whether or not I want to commit to a full on trip report for our upcoming trip, but I've been reading everyone else's and I'm convinced now! Based on the other pre-trip reports I've read, I'm starting this kind of late in our planning game... because we'll be there next Saturday! So let's jump into this!

Who:
Me, MississippiBelle, your lovely 23 year old ghost host, recent college grad (can I say that after a year and a half?), residential designer in the great state of Mississippi
W, the 18 year old little brother, my travel adventure companion for all 14 of our Disney vacations together, budding photographer (you'll probably see mostly his pictures in the full report), graduating high school in May
Mom and Dad, both turned 50 this year, have a tendency to disappear and take loving couple photo pass pictures without W and I (my brother and I started calling ourselves the orphans after 10 couple pictures showed up on the photo pass reel after the last trip), discovered and grossly overuse the selfie

I discovered when attempting to compile this PTR that no one actually has any of our group Disney shots (and consequently only full group shots we ever take) saved on their phones and I won't be at my parent's house to access the hard drive before the trip, so no pics of us till the trip report!

When & Where:
October 22 - 28, 2016 at the Beach Club Resort!

Why:
As I mentioned before in my overly long description of my family, both of my parent's turned 50 this year! It has long been my mom's wish to go to Food and Wine Festival, but with W and I both still in school a mid-fall vacation at the length we normally take for Disney trips was out of the question. Now that I'm graduated with vacation days ready to burn and W is a senior with the college acceptance letter of choice in his hand and a bad case of senioritis, we are ready to go! We'll probably tack on W's graduation celebration while we are at it. And I turned 23 in June.... so why the heck not?

I'll save the plans for another post since I've probably put at least 8 people to sleep with the first installment. I was in charge of all the planning this year (totally not in an attempt to sob story our way into a room upgrade... I've only mentioned my parent's birthday 3 times on the phone to cast members.... It's casual) and I know you're already so excited to drag yourself through another novel by yours truly! No worries, friends, with a little pixie dust and a strong drink we'll all get through this together.

Alright, on to the plans! :D

We have 4 full days, 2 half days planned at the parks and 1 day planned for Universal Studios. Our very first fastpass on Saturday is the new Soarin! I have been scouring the fastpass site for a Frozen fastpass, but no luck yet. Magic Kingdom is open late on Saturday as well, so we've decided to grab a quick service dinner that night to get to as much Epcot and Magic Kingdom time as possible. We've got park hopper tickets for Universal (which cost an arm and a leg for four 1 day park hopper tickets -- sheesh!) and we've got a lot of Universal gift cards ready to go for souvenirs! I'm a red head, so those Weasley sweaters are calling my name!

Our dinner reservations include:
Yak and Yeti
Be Our Guest
Portobello
The Plaza Restaurant
The Yachtsman Steakhouse

Aside from the Yachtsman, these will all be new restaurants for us. We have one full morning/afternoon dedicated to F&W, but I'm hoping the weekday night time crowds won't be too bad so we can sneak a dessert or drink in after dinner for a few nights. This will also be the first time Animal Kingdom will be open after dark for us, so Yak and Yeti is our first dinner reservation in or around Animal Kingdom period! I hope to squeeze in some time wandering around some of our favorite resorts, but I'm currently being overruled so we'll see. This will be the first time I can remember ever seeing the parks not decorated for Christmas, so I'm looking forward to the change of scenery!

In typical pre-Disney fashion, W and I are both battling colds right now (we live two and a half hours apart, imagine our luck on getting sick at the same time!). Prayers and healthy thoughts appreciated!
