50th Anniversary Celebration - Dates Question

Hello all! Thanks for having me.

Long time WDW goer here, but recently moved to Seattle. I most certainly want to be in the most magical place on earth on Oct. 1st, 2021, but I show that lots of the hotels and reservations have been booked for months now. My question is - Do you think there is going to be much difference being there on Oct. 1st vs let's say Nov. 1st?

The 18 month celebration would definitely kick off strong starting on Oct. 1st, but I am not sure it is in the cards for me or not. Should I do everything in my power to be there on the anniversary date or do y'all think as long as I am there in that 18 month window, it'll be a similar experience?

You'd be lucky to even get a resort or park reservation at this point.

A couple years ago I thought I'd go for the 50th but then last year happened and now I feel like October 1st is going to be crazier than if the pandemic had never happened.
Therefore I am avoiding it.

I went during the 25th anniversary in November of 1996 and it felt plenty magical.
This was prior to social media shoving it in your face that they were there on the exact anniversary date though.
I'm going November of this year and I'm sure it won't feel quite as magical as it would be to be there on the actual date (social media will show me how I missed out on the greatest day ever) but hey at least I'll be there and the celebrations will still be happening.

We are going in mid November because of the 50th anniversary (my first visit to WDW was December 1971!), because of crowds and uncertainty regarding covid, we never entertained going on actual date of Oct 1st, and yes WDW will celebrate 50th for at least a year

I would recommend waiting a few months and let the crowds thin out a little. Whenever you go within the 18 months it will be the same although I would go no later than May-August 2022. if you wait until anything more you may risk the chance of them running out of merchandise

If you really want to be there, go for it!

Kingdom Konsultants, the site sponsor, have some rooms available, I would email Pam on pam@kingdomkonsultant.com to find out what they have left.

I think park capacity will be increased again before then.

They’ve said it will run for 18 months.

If it's anything like Disneyland's 60th, there will be some special things on the actual anniversary day that are strictly for that day, but most things can be enjoyed over the course of the 18 month celebration. The other thing with the actual anniversary day stuff is that some may be very limited to the average guest. Still, if it's something you want to try and do, there's no harm in trying to be there to celebrate on the actual 50th.
