5 injured in ride malfunction at North Carolina State Fair

At least five people were injured earlier tonight on a ride called the Vortex at the N.C. State Fair in Raleigh. Here's a link to a news story:

Carnival rides scare me. They get set up and broken down and moved constantly. It just seems too easy for a safety check to slip through the cracks. I hope everyone is OK.

It's still being investigated, the ride has some history of malfunctioning, so the plot is getting thicker. I was there on Tuesday and they were doing pre-recorded announcements on a continuous loop. One of the major statements was that the North Carolina State Fair has the record of the safest rides in the State Fair Circuit. Guess they will have to change that now. There new motto is "Almost nothin ever happens".

The Wake County Sheriff's Department has arrested one of the ride operators for intentionally tampering with a safety device, thus causing the accident.
