5 gate park

So with all the news about buying Marvel & Lucas why not make the 5th gate that has been taked about for so long. Its really a no brainer. Star Wars Land is Harry Potter's kryptonite. It would be what WDW is searching for and already owns.

Now i think that Star Wars Land would be able to take a decent amount of space and if done right could be very nice and big. Move out the star tours in HWS to open up more space for Cars land and whatever else fits in that park like Monsters Ink ride.

Then add marvel (assuming that it can be added to the East coast cause there was rumors the deal was exclusive to Universal) If not Marvel rides would fit on the other side of the park and that would be an awesome park for not just traditional WDW fans like me but also those who love the characters of Marvel & star wars. Also we wouldnt have to worry about all the marvel characters and star wars characters walking around with Mickey and look out of place. Just my opinion.

I'm not sure if Star Wars/Luca/Marvel constitutes a 5th gate... but I have to say that if Harry Potter is considered to sustainable by Uni then I wouldn't see why Star Wars wouldn't be for Disney. It is far past 30 years in just films alone and still carries a strong following. I am not a Star Wars junkie myself, but I do live with a couple and it time haters give them their due. Star Wars has more than weathered the storms of time and I believe they would be a great addition.

I am not a SW fan by any means....but I can see where the franchise could have a great impact on WDW overall. There are enough fans of the series to generate interest in this idea. The movies are thirty years old and still have a strong following - and with new movies in the pipeline, there will be continued interest.

These boards have been filled with threads of what Disney needs to do to upgrade AK and HS to make them 'full day' parks. Could a portion of HS be taken back and reimagined as a Star Wars Land? I could see that happening, but I am not sure that thematically it would work.

HS would need to have a bold re-imagining, and I don't know if the powers that be have the fortitude to undertake such an enormous project. Rather, I think they are content with tinkering a bit here and there, but not a total makeover.

Hey, if they let me have an unlimited budget and a slew of imagineers at my disposal, I could revamp the park. Maybe I will make that a new thread, because, hey, we don't discuss this enough.

Not a rumor, fact.

I just posted about this in another thread, but I think the problem with a fifth gate at this point is that it would add a lot of extra operating cost over just putting those attractions in existing parks. Disney seems to be struggling to spend enough to operate the existing 4 parks, adding a fifth would just make things worse. Also, people's vacations aren't necessarily getting longer so a fifth gate would just canabalize guests from the other 4 parks.

Disney wouldn't be able to design an entire gate to just Star Wars. There isn't enough IP to fill 100 acres. Along with that, it is a huge risk to tie an entire gate to a single franchise. This is why uni added hp as a miniland instead of an entire gate.

As for Marvel, disney is not allowed to have a marvel park east of the Mississippi. Disney would need to buy out uni for the rights, something that has not been mentioned in the news as happening. Along with that, disney is making money from uni on the marvel franchise. Unless something happens, it looks like they are content with the deal in place.
