I know we are enjoying celebration after celebration, party after party in the WDW, but I'm eager to know if there is any rumor or confirmations of what are the plans for the 30 years of WDW. I love the WDW's birthdays, they always include something new and special for the occasion. I remember being for the 30 years of DisneyLand which it was really emotional, and now almost 15 years later the time came for Disney World.

Well, its 30th anniversary was three months ago...it would be late...so I doubt any anniversary celebration would be going on. They're basically just focused on Walt's 100th.

Ever chance they get to bring any type of hype to the parks..they will...so expect a bash for 30 as well...

I wouldn't count on it. I remember reading an article back in the summer where they said that they were going to manly focus on Walt's birthday since it will be a while before the next big milestone date for that. As it is, you can find some merchandise in the parks with 30th anniversary stuff in it - just not a whole lot.

Epcot turns 20 this year, Animal Kingdom turns 5 next year, MGM turns 15 in 2004 (when the Tower of Terror turns 10...they ought to do something), Magic Kingdom turns 35 in 2006...plenty of room for celebrations:)

I was being a little sarcastic but with Disney's other tackey tourist traps I wouldn't be surprised if they put some Mickey body part near the tree or the castle.

I don't think the Sorcerer Mickey hat is tacky...and I was under the impression that anyone who saw it in person for the most part felt the same way. We were pretty much 50/50 on the Wand...which I also liked. And, I think I was in the majority that was ready to say goodbye to the Cinderella Birthday Cake after one year...

I saw the hat being built so maybe I'll think different of it when I see it. And maybe tacky was the wrong word but more out of place. It sort of doesn't belong there. It's a good idea but maybe if they had taken down the arm (which doesn't look bad) then it would be a little different. Imagine having all the parks with Mickey parts on the icons it sort of ruins the coolness of the others.

MGM didn't really have a cool icon, and a lot of people would be so clueless as to not know its Mickey w/o the hand. I think it fits in...a few hundred feet down the road they have Fantasmic!, which is all about mickey, and in the ride behind the hat, mickey also has a little schene. Walt got his start with the movies, and it all began with a mouse. Complete the syllogism..."Walt got his start with a mouse" :)

That is all very true. I think the hat would be much cooler if the hand was taken down. Same the hand would be cooler if the hat was taken down, they are redundant. To make the hat look good and inplace they would need to tear down the theater and no one would want that. Actually I think the WDW Fantasmic needs to be redone a little. Take out Pochantas and add some more scenes instead of all the movies on the mist, it's a great effect but the bubble sceen is all stuff I could have stayed home to watch. It's a good lead in and something for the plot but just to add an extra 5 min to the show it's pointless.

I think Epcot should be given an opportunity to celebrate an aniversary, after all, it's always Magic Kingdom that helds the birthday celebration every 5 years. Epcot only got the chance to celebrate in the Millenium. Disney should give Epcot -that counts with less attractions that MK- a chance to celebrate something so as to attract people to the park.

ToT isn't an attraction that Mr. Pressler would tear down after it is ten yeras old. This is the second most popular attraction at MGM...is quite creative...and gets the most money in. This is an example of an attraction that Disney wants to keep for a long time. 2004 is a skip away and ToT will still be operating..unless something goes wrong.
