I arrive Saturday night for my first even trip to Disneyland! And you have NO idea how excited I am getting. I honestly havne't been this excited about going to WDW in Orlando in quite some time. I am expecting it to be so much more charming and so much more beautiful. I just can't wait.

Normally for a trip to WDW I plan everything down to the minute as far as what parade/fireworks etc I see on what night, but with Disneyland, I'm absolutely clueless. Just gonna fly by the seat of my pants, I guess.

Anyone have any last minute tips/tricks/ideas for me? I don't imagine anything (other than Space Mountain) is down for rehab considering it was all freshened up for the 50th.

3 days!!!!!

Nicholas, have a great time. I have a friend that lives in Los Angeles and I am hoping to get out there sometime next year to vist. I want to go to DL, if I do.

I can't wait to hear all about your trip :D

The only areas currently with construction walls are the Sub Lagoon and Monsters, Inc. The Walt Disney Theatre at the Animation Pavillion is closed for refurbishment, to open as Turtle Talk with Crush next month. Otherwise, everything is open!

Big recommendation--get a spot at the hub for Remember...Dreams Come True very early--at least an hour, as it fills up. And realize that you can always get a Fastpass at both parks at the same time (easier to do at DLR than at WDW) and that in addition to those, you can always get a Fastpass for Grizzly River Run and Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin, as they are on separate FP systems. Take advantage of that fact. Finally, there have been major food staffing problems at the DLR, which should be fixed in the next month or so, but for now, don't try to eat at the counter service spots during peak meal times, or you will often wait upwards of an hour for food. Also note that, in case you haven't checked in the last week or so, parade times have changed, with Parade of Dreams now stepping off at 4 pm and 7 pm daily (the later showing had been at 7:45 pm). Finally, a new show debuted last week in Hollywood Pictures Backlot in front of Animation (that is, on Hollywood Boulevard) that seems to be pretty good--check it out. Otherwise, have a great trip!

I really hope that you will post a trip report when you get back. I am taking my first DL trip in September and am anxious to hear what you think!
(particularly compared to WDW.)

Nicholas, I DO have an idea how excited you are. We leave in 6 days and I can hardly wait. I love WDW, but it is going to be so much fun to see the original park in its 50th year!

Definatetly find a place in the hub in front of the castle to see Remember, no later than 1 hour prior to show start. The show is awesome and surpasses Wishes in quality. If you have time, take the Walk in Walt's Footsteps tour. The tour is pretty cool, you'll find out neat stuff plus you get to go inside the lobby of Club 33. Some of the restuarants that give AP discounts also give AAA discounts. I found this out a little late, but used my AAA card at the Plaza Inn.

Have a great time!

Do you know which restaurants (or where I can find them) have AAA discounts? I didn't know they had this...

Found em! 10% off at Wine Country Trattoria, Ariel's Grotto, Plaza Inn, Goofy's Kitchen, and PCH Grill :)

Oh oh.. .while we're on the subject of AAA... if you use AAA traveler's checks... do you get the same benefits (discounts, etc.)?? That might be a stupid question.. but I just thought I'd ask.

Anyways, have an AMAZING time on your trip!! :D Say hi to Mickey for me!

Thanks for posting the rest of the restuarants offering AAA discounts. I was totally shocked and was expecting a no answer when I asked at the Plaza Inn. I thought there may have also been a discount at Rancho del Zocalo since they had an AP discount, but I guess not.

One last question (I think) before I fly in tomorrow. Does anyone have the AOL local number so I can get online from the hotel? Thanks! :sohappy:
