24 MK Event

I was wondering if anyone who has been to a 24 event could elaborate on the crowds. We have to work 1/2 day on Friday and will not get to Orlando until about 4:00, and into Magic Kingdom until probably around 6:00. I have read in other places that MK can reach capacity for this event and close. Is this a waste of a three hour drive to do the event only for the night portion, will the special events go on mostly during the day or will the events go all thru the night? Any help would be appreciated.

We were there last year for the Monstrous Summer kick-off and MK was open 24 hours. We were there early and it seemed ok. Even through the afternoon and evening crowds were not bad. I think a lot of people came out to experience the park after hours. Over all the crowds were spread out through the day.

We went to the first all nighter, and it was a polar opposite of what I thought would happen. The park was packed after 6pm, all the locals and CM's came out around then, and it stayed pretty busy until 3am. The "special events" ie...M&G's pretty much died down after midnight. Not sure how monstrous summer went, I believe someone listed out an actual timeline of the days events and wait times somewhere.
