20k questions, Stitch question, and Skyway question

I don't know why people sometimes ignore my questions but I have some to ask. (Remember I've only gone to WDW twice so I apologize. I'm only 13 years old.)

20K Leagues
1. I know that some "gunk" had covered the cave entrance for awhile. When did that happen and why? Did anyone witness it being put into place?

2. How deep was that lagoon?

Stitch
1. When does Stitch open (please don't get into all this "season passholder", or "AP preview" stuff. Just tell me if you can when the ride opens to the public roughly.

Skyway
1 Any photos of Tomorrowland's old Skyway station now and then? I've seen dozens from Fantasyland. Why none at Tomorrowland?

**THANKS!!**

I know about searching but I mean it's frustrating to look through a thread with 2,000 replies to find something. I don't get why no one will just lemme know. In case anyone cares, I'm asking these seemingly pointless questions for a website I hope to have working soon.

1. The "gunk" was just some camoflage netting to hide the holes. It didn't work very well. If I remember correctly, it went up around 1998-99 or so.

2. The lagoon was about 8-10 feet I believe.

3. Mid-November or thereabouts.

4. Skyway photos aren't too hard to find. I have some...somewhere. Try Google.

Please feel free to correct me on any of this...it's kind of late and I'm kind of tired. :dazzle:

The only difference in the way the skyway station was from when it was open to today is that there was a little structural piece to angle the cable upwards.

Today, that piece of stucture is gone leaving an empty but much better looking building.

The answers to some of your questions may or may not be known by some people. I'll do my best, but some of these are only guesses so I may be wrong. If so, please feel free to correct me.

1. The gunk on the cave was probably put up after the ride was closed to cover up the hole in the rockwork. That way it wouldn't look so much like a closed ride. My guess would be that it was some sort of netting manufactured to look like overgrowth.

2. I don't really know how deep the lagoon was. Several feet I'm sure, but I just don't know an exact depth.

3. Stitch, I think, has a press event scheduled for November 16. Unofficially, I'd say that's the official opening date. Please keep in mind that it's unofficial and could change. AP previews are a couple weeks earlier around November 5.

4. I don't think I have any photos of the stations. I do have some old photos with the cars in them, but not the stations.

I hope this helps! No one was intentionally ignoring your earlier post and I'm sorry you felt that way. Sometimes the answers are simply unknown.

Was there a sign on the building or did you just have to (from common sense) "know" that it was the Skyway building?

How long were the Skyway poles and cables there? on this site (www.wdwmagic.com) it doesn't say, just has a 9 September 2000 photo of them. So it had to be after that.

Any information?

(by the way thanks FamilyGuy, DarkMEasures and LEe for your replies thus far):)

Yeah, no problem, just wondering, what kinda site are you doing?

And yes, the skyway building did have a sign. The skyway was taken out in what? 98-99-2000 ish? Somewhere around there... The poles were removed shortly after that.

Oh, to correct a mis-statement from someone else above, the netting used to cover the 20k holes was only put up after the waterfalls were turned off. And I couldn't tell ya when that was, but it was about the same time as the Skyway was closed.

A site on lost attractions at both Magic Kingdom and EPCOT. One page for Animal Kingdom too (but they only lost one ride the Discovery Riverboats). No pages for MGM since I've never gone there.

Anyway i'll have the site's link in my signature, when it is done (in a few weeks' time)

Currently if you look from backstage you'll see the very bottom of 20k as they fill in the hole. It's about 15-22 feet to the bottom.

Skyway pics are around. Would you believe that the cars from the skyway are still stored inside the building in tommorowland!

You may want to do some searching for those type of sites. I know I have seen a few out there with some of the stuff you are talking about, not that it may not be a good site. But the web can only have so many Disney sites.

Too many websites about WDW?

You go MickeyRulz, I believe there can never be too many sites about WDW, especially ones about attractions that are no longer around. Practice makes perfect with web design, and I have seen many sites come and go, like www.WDWBlues.com. It used to be this really cool site with lots of pictures about how the parks needed maintenance and upkeep. After the maintenance was done, the guy would also post a "fixed" picture. He quit posting anything at all on it a couple of years ago and if you go there now it is password protected. Maybe it's because everything at WDW has been fixed . Anyway, WDW sites can be about anything and still be entertaining, like www.BadShoe.com. It is about the shoes people wear to the parks.

in fantasyland is the skyway station where the characters greetings are now? (not the fantasyland character festival i know that used to be the entrance to the 20,000 lagoon)
