I can’t find a live report of this but I’m seeing some preliminary news coming out.

Refurbs of BLT, AKV and VGC have all been pushed out to 2025. ☹️

There’s a picture of the DVC Cabins at FW circulating, showing the Queen Murphy bed in the living area with a galley kitchen. This is apparently on X via but I can’t see it to post.

Edit:

There was apparently conflicting info on the refurbs. The slides said all 3 resorts would be in 2025 but the presenter said 2024 for BLT. So I guess we have to wait for something official. 🙄

This is very disappointing. BLT units are in desperate need of full refurbs.

Did you see my edit? Apparently the slide said 2025 but the presenter said 2024. Typical! 🙄
I did, thanks.
We're in a studio at BLT now, the furniture and rug have seen better days, the TV is old and very small. Also, our mattress was saggy and worn out, had to call and ask for a new one.

Hopefully the refurbs for BLT come in 2024.

It wouldn't suprise me if Disney buys up any resales and then add in future resales going forward be restricted to the Poly.
Anyone buying resale at a legacy resort, including the Poly, will be able to use their points at the Tower. That’s what being part of the existing association means.

I don't love it. It's nice to see dead space reduced (specifically the old hall way that only functioned as a hallway), but I don't love the TV and sofa where they are with the sofa perpendicular and right against the TV. If that's the living room room then it doesn't look comfortable. At first glance I'd have preferred an L shaped kitchen (like exists now) right where that TV and Murphy Bed are.

Of course, there's still the side we don't see. And we're missing still missing the 3rd sleeper and bathroom. Is the bathroom not accessible from the bedroom?

Yeah, that TV is too high up for a start. And as you say, the only place you could watch from is the dining table. 🤦🏽‍♀️

The article mentions the bunk beds will remain. The question is, are they still in the bedroom? That won’t please traditional DVCers who like a master bedroom for privacy. And the same issue arises if you have to go into the bedroom to access the bathroom.

The bunk beds are in the bedroom. Opposite side of the same wall as the TV. We're jusssst about to see the ladder going up to top bunk. I had hoped for something like the Dcl bunk beds with a lower couch converting to a bed and then a pull down upper bunk (from ceiling or wall). It would have been a nice bedroom sitting spot with both "up."

With the bunks in the bedroom the only thing we don't see is the bathroom and the only place left to put it is on the opposite side of the cabin from the bedroom. This was a "fear" I had from the renderings with the high rectangular windows (there's an architectural name for these escaping my memory) on the left and right sides. We knew one side would be a bedroom and I speculated that the other side could be a bathroom but I hoped against it because I don't like the idea of walking out of bedroom to bathroom 20 feet away. But the windows, they're tall for privacy where you'd want privacy and light (bedroom and bathroom) and the ability to maximize using walls (not blocking windows). The setup will allow for a larger bathroom, like maybe separate tub and shower like they do at other resorts.

See for me, aside from the bunks in the bedroom, having the guests on the Murphy bed coming into the bedroom to use the bathroom would be much worse. That would mean zero privacy even with just 4 people.

I agree that's worse. The retiring cabin setup has the bathroom off a short side hall that leads to the bedroom so people in the bedroom have to exit but it's right there and not across the living room/kitchen. That's the biggest difference, walking 25 feet instead of 5 feet. Both ways the bathroom is only accessible from outside the bedroom, but something had to give and there was a choice between "larger bathroom further away from bedroom" and "smaller bathroom closer to bedroom." I don't love needing to walk past sleeping living room guests and across the kitchen to reach the bathroom, but it's also the best design to maximize square footage.

Oh, I didn’t realise you meant across the living room. No, that’s not good. Unless they have an en-suite toilet and sink…. (Wishful thinking probably).

The cabins are old and definitely deserve to be refurbished BUT this is disgraceful. These cabins were used by imagineers while building Epcot. They should be preserved as much as possible. Not to mention the lost of probably the best value on property is going to be a huge blow. Their pricing was so competitive compared to anywhere else in the resort. Large families are going to be left in the dust.

These are not original and were installed in the late 1990s as log home inspired mobile homes. Because they aren't aren't actually built as log cabins the lifespan and is up. And because they need to replaced at great expense Disney punted on paying themselves and instead put in into DVC to put the costs on DVC owners. And that's where we are.

So while they aren't original they have aot of history. They may pop up in the future. Some were removed in 2016 and then appeared with a seller in 2019, selling for about $30k-$35k each.

But yes, agreed on prices. Personally I've found them expensive already but they will be only more expensive to rent when DVC. Art of Animation suites are in the same rice range but it's a wayyyyy different resort. The Fort is home for so many people...

Or....they could have done a soft goods refurbishment on the existing cabins.

Agree. I wouldn't want to walk past sleeping guests in the living room to use the bathroom at 2:00 AM.

Yeah I didnt have a significant problem with the existing layout. Apparently they needed to replace the buildings anyway so something new was going to be installed but it does feel like change for sake of change. The new bedroom looks better for room, so maybe that + the current bathroom layout would have worked well.

The cabins had reached the end of their lifetime. That’s what triggered this in the first place. The cabins themselves needed replaced, and what better way to avoid paying for them than to make the replacements DVC.

Another MEH! for Disney design. Basically, a bland cookie cutter little house (sorry, cough, cough, "cabin").
