2019 Trip Planning

Hey y’all! New here, first time posting, I’m just looking for some advice. I’m planning a trip to WDW with some friends and family in late 2019. There’s 7 of us total and we are going sometime in October/November. I’m trying to figure out some specifics on dates. Is there a period between halloween and Christmas decorations where the park isn’t decorated? Also is there a week in there that is best based on crowd levels? Please help!

MK is the only park that decorates for Halloween, due to MNSSHP. Parties begin at the end of August and run through Halloween. Mickey’s Christmas parties begin a few days later and the park switches overnight from Halloween to Christmas decorations. So there is no “non-holiday” decor period at MK from late August until a week or so after New Year’s.

The other parks get decorated for the holidays in early November.

There is no “best” week in October/November. October has fall breaks, Columbus Day weekend, Halloween and Epcot’s Food & Wine Festival (and MNSSHP at MK) that draw crowds. Food & Wine runs until mid-November. November has Jersey week (google it) and Thanksgiving crowds (before & after.)

My point is, just pick a week that works best for your party. Crowds have become unpredictable and the parks are always busy. Use crowd calendars as a guideline knowing that past history does not dictate current trends.

A Disney vacation is what you make it. Expect to have fun and you will, regardless of crowds.

Okay great! This will by my fourth time visiting the parks, but only the first where we will be staying on property. It’s also a first time for a lot of my party to go at all! I wanna make sure they have a good experience and crowd anxiety is a huge issue with my party. I’m also hoping to get lucky and snag free dining.

According to undercovertourist.com, the crowd levels in October 2018 are average with the exception of the weekends. November 2018 is the same with HIGH crowds beginning the weekend before Thanksgiving(US)...I don't think they change much year to year so 2019 should be about the same! Like Tuvalu stated, grab your room as early as possible, you can always add on any promotions later!

We are also from Canada and planning another trip in November 2019! As of right now, I'm just trying to avoid US Thanksgiving, so we will be going before then. I'll be there this November so I'll have a good idea what the crowds might be like next year unless Galaxy's Edge totally turns everything upside down haha.
