So...maybe I'm not in the loop, but has anyone seen this:
from: http://www.virginholidays.co.uk/ext...actions/walt_disney_world/tickets_prices.aspx

This is available to book for any booking departing from 11 January 2009 onwards.

The new Quick Service Dining Plan is in addition to the current Dining Plan and Deluxe Dining Plan.

Please Note:

These prices include 2 Quick Service meals and 2 snacks per person per day.

1 Refillable Resort Cup per person (can only be used in hotel where guests are staying, NOT in any Theme Parks).

Interesting addition...this hasn't been released by Disney, but appears to be in place for our UK friends...

Yes, this won't necessarily translate to a US change/addition but it is interesting. It makes sense because many people don't utilize the full functionality of the DP today (i.e. I don't ever order an App. or dessert usually).

Interesting concept as I'm one who only does table service a couple of times during a trip - but it's usually a character meal.

Pricing released in the UK also can't be tied to what it will be in the US, either. All though, I would expect the QSR plan to come in at or slightly less than the current DP and that the new table service version will go up in price by a noticeable amount. Just a guess.

Virgin will want their markup and be based on a pre set exchange rate, same as rooms.

interesting idea

as a LONG time AP holder i had never used the Dining Plan, couldn't actually cause it was never offered, UNTIL last month and i honestly LOVED IT.

BUT.......... always that big BUT in the way :ROFLOL: i went with a lot of other family members and so we had plans every night for a sit down dinner. i don't know how they make money on it but i keep tract of the costs we spent and we ate FAR MORE in dollars then we paid into the plan and we still had services unused. (I had the Basic DP for me and my younger daughter and my eldest daughters family had the Deluxe)...

with all of that said... it was a GREAT BARGAIN in my humble opinion. AND YET i think the idea of having this modified plan of 2 snacks and 2 counter services and no sit down as the best idea since SLICE BREAD depending on the costing of course. conceptually it has the promise of being widely used by many people LIKE ME who go to the WORLD for five days several times a year and MAYBE MIGHT do 1 sit down during each trip. example ... i am going in September and have no plans nor reservations booked for any sit-downs. WHY??? part of it is that since i've been there so much that going to a sit down by myself is not something that calls out to me and especially given that i then need to arrange my day and trip around the reservation. if like back in the old days one could easily walk up and secure a reservation for that same day then yes i might reconsider always doing the Basic Dining Plan if offered with the AP (which seems like a strong indication that WDW is thinking along that lines --- offering the Dining Plan in larger quantities to the APs and less room only discounts).

so to sum up ... interesting concept, hope they offer it here in the states and i'm curious about the cost.

How much would you be willing to pay for this plan?

2 snacks and 2 Counter Services/per person/per night.

When I think snacks, I think Ice Cream bars. $2.50 each.

When I think counter Service, I think Burger, fries, drink. About $8 each.

If priced right, I could really go for this plan if Disney where to roll it out as a new package option in 2009.

The above numbers come up to $21 a day.

What would it be worrth to you?

This is great news if it makes it "across the pond" as are UK friends say.
It will open up more ADRS which has been a big complaint. It will allow more ride and attraction time. I think this will be a HUGH plus for families with kids. My neices and nephews will not sit still for a 2 hour sit down lunch/dinner.
