2006 Cheerleading Championships

Hey everyone. I'm new hear and this is my first post. I will be at Disney from January 4th to the 14th. The College Cheer and Dance Championships are from the 13th to the 16th at WWoS if I am correct.

My DW use to Dance in College, but has never attended/competed in the National Championship, so I would like to surprise her and go over to the event on Friday the 13th ( just realized what day that is).

My question involves the Magic Plus Pack. Does anyone know if I would be able to use a 'Plus' to attend the event?

Yes, you could, but it's REALLY not worth it for you to do so. IIRC, admission to WWoS is about $10 and so you should pay for it on your own. Plus, admission to special events is usually in addition to that price, so I doubt that it would be covered by the "Plus" pack (or whatever the heck they're calling it today) to begin with!!

I see you are staying at All Star Sports during the cheerleading event, just be prepared for loud noise, cheer chants and girls screaming.....Good Luck

I'm a former Cheer Coach and I dont think I would even stay there during this event.

I know the competitions are extremely noisy, however you should really go and see what they are all about. My daughter is a competitive cheerleader, and the competitions are great...These girls practice hours each day on their routines. They are quite skilled. Good luck to all of the girls.

We stayed at the All Star Sports for 2 nights in 2000 and the cheerleaders were loud (REALLY LOUD). We switched resorts to Dixie Landings.

On our last trip in January we stayed at POFQ and came home one day to see every room on our building just about had signs in the windows all from cheerleaders. We were quite nervous they would be loud but it was not bad at all...

Some of the cheerleading groups are NUTS. I'm friends with Pluto, and usually when I see huge groups of them, i'm off like a set of rims at a 50 Cent concert.

Yep, Nothing like trying to get some sleep at 11pm, and college cheerleaders running around the resort screaming. Only to have them wake up and start cheer practice in the courtyards at 7am.

The only difference between the coll. and the HS cheer squads is that the college ones can get into PI.

The competition doesn't start until the 13th and I am leaving the 14th in the morning. So at least I will have 8 days of my vacation without them. Plus like spence said, it's College, so most of them will be at PI, instead of cheering at the hotel :).

Your right, some of them are truely skilled!! I remember hours and hours of my DW being out at practice. If we go it will be for the Dance competitions though. My DW was a dancer and she still enjoys watching the competitions. Some of you might think there really isn't a difference b/w Cheering and Dancing, but don't let them hear you say that :).

What level of cheering is your daughter at?

P.S. Thanks for all the warm welcomes.

I really wasn't to concerned that the admission was really cheap and that it would be a waste of a plus.

I have a 10-day ticket with 5 'Plus' options and I was planning on using 1 at PI, 1 at DQ, and 2 at BB (since TL will be in rehab). That will leave me with 1 left over, so if admission to the event would be covered by a 'Plus', then I would not feel I was wasting it, since I have done all of the other plus options at least once.

I might have to call if no one on here knows. I went on the WWoS website and it's not even on the Calendar of Events (which to me, means that it is not a special event).

For anyone who read this thread and is wondering, here is the answer I got from Disney.

Yes, Disney's Wide World of Sports Complex functions as the host
facility for various UCA and UDA events. For more information about the competition schedule, please visit Varsity's website at varsity.com, as Varsity is the organizing body for these events.

Please note the UCA/UDA/Varsity events are considered Premium Events. Although the "Plus" option will allow you to gain admission into the sports complex, it will not grant you access to the cheer/dance event. Upon arrival, you will be required to purchase an admission ticket at the Disney's Wide World of Sports Box Office. Again, please
contact/solicit ticket prices from the organizing body.
