I am planning for a trip to DL in 2005 and wondered when it the best time of year to go go to avoid heavy crowds I and to avoid rain if any.Which of the 3 DL resort hotels are the best to stay.Last time I have been at DL was more than10years ago.Decided to go back to DL after going to WDW for 10years straight.When would be a good time to book and what kind of packages are available.Any help would be appreciated.

2005 Trip to Disneyland need advise

Seeing as the 50 Years of Magic Celebration doesn't start until April 2005, certainly wait until after then to go. If you want small crowds, go in the fall, but if you want awesome park hours and fireworks, go in the summer or Christmas 2005. It does not rain in California in the summer, so if you want small crowds (but, again, you sacrifice hours and fireworks), while having little rain, go in September. All of the hotels are nice, but, of course, the Grand Californian is the nicest--and the most expensive. You don't need to book until maybe 6 months before you go, and they have packages including hotel room, park tickets, Unlimited Fastpasses, and even day trips to other SoCal attractions, like Knott's, Sea World, San Diego Zoo, Los Angeles, etc. Also keep in mind Space Mountain is not scheduled to reopen until summer 2005.
