2005 Park Celebrations?

I thought I had read a while back that they would have new attractions/rides for WDW in 2005 to commemorate the 50th Anniversary of Disneyland. Is this still true? I was wanting to plan a big 2 week trip for next year. I haven't been here for awhile so I might have missed some discussions on it. Thanks!

I think each park is supposed to get a new ride or show.
MK: Stitch's Great Escape and a Cinderella Show
MGM: Motor Stunt Show
Epcot: Soarin' and Disneyland Preview Center
AK: Expedition Everest

there will also be a celebration like 100 Years of Magic, Millennium Celebration, etc., although they have as of yet not announced a host park.

Thanks! All I had heard about was Soarin' & the Stunt SHow. I knew about Stitch's Great Escape. But I didn't know it was in preparation for the celebration.

I think in the last Disney Magazine, it mentioned May 5, 2005 as a that new attractions will open at WDW.

No...that is the start of Disney's Golden Celebration at the Disneyland Resort, when Remember...Dreams Come True, Buzz Lightyear's AstroBlasters, and a lot of new entertainment will premiere at Disneyland and California Adventure.

It was on page 19.
"5-5-05 is the day the Happiest Homecoming on Earth begins. The 18-month-long celebration will be the biggest in company history."

Disneyland: Remember...Dreams Come True fireworks spectacular (5/5/05), Buzz Lightyear's AstroBlasters (5/5/05), Space Mountain (7/17/05), Walt Disney's Parade of Dreams (5/5/05), Disneyland Park: The First 50 Years exhibit (5/5/05)

California Adventure: Block Party Bash (5/5/05)

Tokyo DisneySea: new big name roller coaster that I don't know the name of...looks like Indiana Jones and the Tempil of Peril minus the Indy theming and it will actually be a really good ride

Disneyland Paris: Wishes for summer 2005

Animal Kingdom: Expedition: EVEREST (at earliest, October 1, 2005)

Epcot: Soarin' (Spring Break 2005), Hong Kong Disneyland Preview Center (5/5/05)

MGM: Lights, Motors, Action Stunt Show Spectacular (early spring 2005)

Magic Kingdom: sort of Stitch's Great Escape on 10/1/04, but Cinderellabration, a nighttime show on the Castle Forecourt Stage, should premier ~5/5/05

Hong Kong Disneyland: opens (probably sometime in 2006)

Other additions have not been announced yet, but will be shortly.

I thought Expedition: Everest wasn't opening until 2006? If it might be opening in October 2005, maybe I should postpone my trip a month. What is this Disney magazine someone mentioned? Where can you get it? Is AK still getting Flik's Fun Fair? I thought I had read they might be getting that.

Disney has said 2006 to be safe, but optimistic goals (VERY optimistic) would suggest October 1st of next year. However, any construction fluctuations, and there almost always are some, will push it back. I wouldn't necessarily move my trip thinking it will be open, especially if it costs any extra money to change the time. With so much construction remaining, it could open any time from 10/1/05-4/1/06. Disney obviously wants this to open asap, though...for good reason...it's already been 5 years since Kali River Rapids, the last E-Ride...which is inexcusable for a new park, but that is neither here nor there.

So if Cinderellabration is only at night, does that mean that Cinderella's Surprise Celebration will definitely be scrapped, or could it stay on for mornings and afternoons?

It could stay, but it may or may not...it's very popular, of course, so that is one vote in its favor.

Thanks. I'm torn... on one hand, it's a wonderful show. On the other hand, if it goes, the castle will be available for perusing all day instead of only in between far-apart shows, as it is now.
