Finally, after falling in love with WDW as an adult back in 1994 and going there every year since - sometimes 4-6 times a year - I have bought a house in Central Florida! I'm finally going to be able to drive to WDW any time I want to. That sounds so awesome! Now I just have to survive the move and settling down in my new hometown in the next couple months. Can't wait for the Epcot Flower & Garden show when I no longer have to book airfares, airport parking, pet sitter, car rentals and hotel rooms to get to it (and did anyone notice how expensive Disney resorts have become in 20 years?)

No more upper Midwest winters or lake effect snow after this one!
Now bring on those hot, humid summers and gorgeous winters!
:D

And then there's the hurricane season, and the hundreds of thousands of tourists that invade the place year after year and clog up the roads cos they don't know where they're going..................;)

Congrats tecowdw on your dream home purchase and move. Hope the transition goes smoothly.

Seriously, when was the last hurricane in Florida? Tourists aren't a problem most of the time. Besides without tourists in Central Florida, what else is there other then a few alligators, giant bugs and a gazillion little salamanders.;)

The salamanders don't do anything. They might need a little getting used to, and it might be sort of disturbing to see 100 lizards everyday, but they just scamper away when you get near them. and You really don't see that many alligators. Well, if you don't count Gainesville.

Tecowdw: I moved to FL about 2 years ago...visited about 4x year before that since I was a pre-teen. You will not regret living here. I don't think the summers in FL are any worse that those in the mid-west and the winters are definitely much much better. Welcome to Florida!
