For the past five years the wife and I have made the journey down to WDW every year either in April, but mostly in October. With luck, this cycle will continue this fall.

However, I've gained the opportunity to head to E3, the big electronic show in May. As you all know, Disneyland is nearby. I've never been there, but always wanted to see it. With all the celebrations going on, it would seem foolish not to.

What are some of the things not to be missed there? Here's what I'm looking forward to now:
1. Original Pirates,
2. Original Haunted Mansion
3. Matterhorn
4. Original Small World
5. Mr. Toad
6. Alice in Wonderland
7. Indy
8. The Matterhorn

Are all these attractions still there? Should I plan one or two days there? I'm not quite sure about DCA yet. Anyone have some insight?

You can check the disney site to see if the rides are still there.
1. go to disney.com
2. under destinations click disneyland
3. click attractions

Disneyland is wonderful!!!

Things not to be missed!:

Space Mountain (if it is open when you get there)
Is different than the WDW one. More turns, and you sit side by side more like a traditional roller-coaster.

Matterhorn is mild, but very fun. Long Lines.

Fantasyland is far superior to WDW in my opinion.
Mr. Toad is wonderful. I like Pinocchio's Daring Journey, and the AIW ride is as good as dark rides get.

Pirates is pretty much the same but a little longer.

Indiana Jones Adventure is an amazing ride, one of the best in the world.

Splash Mountain is essentially the same ride, but you sit in one row, which is a little uncomfortable.

Roger Rabbitt's car-toon spin is also a really really good ride.

That's about it I guess, you will have a great time!!!

I do doubt Space Mountain will be open by May. July is far more realistic. I would plan on two days, especially with all of the 50th festivities being in high gear come May 5th. You couldn't have picked a better time to see Disneyland, though--just about every building in the park will have been refurbished within the last two years by May--it looks awesome! (Tomorrowland is actually the last area that hadn't gotten completely refurbished and they are doing that now). I would try out DCA--at least for a half day. A far superior Animation building is worth some time, as are the Tower of Terror, Soarin', Grizzly, and California Screamin'.

One of the things I want to experience is the sense of history when you walk through that park. Hardcore Disney fans I've talked to often say that this is one aspect where Disneyland is more impressive than WDW. The park supposedly breathes with an energy that is nostalgic and wonderful. Tonight the wife and I will make our plans.

I can hardly wait...

BTW- I'm a 31 year-old man, and I cry every time I see a trip planning video. Is this normal?

Yep, Disneyland is incredible. Unlike any other Disney park I have been to, from the moment you enter the park, everything breaths Walt Disney. It's an awesome feeling. Have fun!

And that's...pretty normal lol. I teared up a bit at the end of Wishes lol
